From there Mitchell joined up with D1 Minnesota on the 16 and Under team for a second straight year playing Adidas Gauntlet competition. The team is ranked second in the nation at the moment and the year has been one of excitement.
“Spring went great,” Shae told NHR. “We had a very successful record and we played at a high level.
“This team is one of the best groups of guys I’ve ever been around. Playing against some of the top guys in my class has shown me what I can do well and what I really need to work on moving into July.”
Mitchell has outstanding length and agility in a 6-foot-6/6-foot-7 frame that allows him to quickly bounce to boards and finish above the rim but he’s also shown an improved perimeter touch with feet set. That’s something he wants to continue to work on.
“This summer I would like to become a more consistent three point shooter and tighten up the handles,” Mitchell said.
Several schools have Mitchell on the radar as he’s heard from programs at all levels over the past couple years including Minnesota the local school who Shae said “I like the school a lot”. Who has Shae heard from the most recently?
“Denver, Stanford, UW-Green Bay, Drake, Drexel, UW-Milwaukee, and Northern Iowa” said Shae.
Mitchell recently picked up his first scholarship offer and that was from Drexel University.
