2019 Players Still Available: Part 1
As is the case every year, some high quality seniors remain unsigned for the next level! There’s usually a multitude of reasons as to why a good player may be unsigned, but there is still opportunity nonetheless. College coaches looking for some late add-ons should get in on these players! I have spoken with multiple coaches at all different levels and some are still looking to fill some roster slots.
Unsigned seniors:
2019 6’5 SF Jamon Kemp (Rainier Beach HS) – One of the state’s best defenders and athletes has kept a handful of Division 1 coaches waiting on a decision. Jamon has taken his time with the process. Montana has been on him hard for some time now! Will the coaches’ staff connections in the Seattle area, plus them making the NCAA Tourney be enough to lure a player of his reputation to the Big Sky? Will he take his talents to the Pac-12? We will continue to wait and see.
2019 6’4 SG Maurice Barnett (Franklin HS) – A Division 1 coach called me looking for the top unsigned seniors in Washington that could help them. Barnett was right at the top of the list I gave them. He is a high energy scorer that put up over 26 points per game in the best league in Washington. It is only a matter of time before “Mo Buckets” is getting buckets at the next level.
2019 6’4 SG Cole Northrup (Richland HS) – His resume is long for high school accomplishments! I won’t get into that too much, but one thing that is well known about Cole is that he is a SHOOTER. Any program looking for a tough, skilled player that can shoot, then Cole Northrup is your guy.
2019 6’6 SF Garrett Streufert (Richland HS) – Skilled wing player that can also really shoot the ball. He has good size at the wing position and his basketball IQ is very high. Garrett had some big performances at this year’s state tourney and showed that he can produce versus the smaller Tri-Cities teams, just as well as the best teams in the state.
2019 6’6 SF Jaivion Garrett (Rainier Beach HS) – Jaivion is a physical inside-out presence. He has good feet and hands and can rebound the ball well. He will be playing with Team LaVine on the adidas circuit this spring and will look to give college coaches one more chance to get a look at him.
2019 6’2 G Alex Schumacher (Skyview HS) – The top unsigned point guard in Washington has yet to make a decision on college. He has drawn interest from D1 and offered at the D2 level. We have no timetable for Alex’s decision, but he is going to be able to help a program with his ball handling, scoring ability and basketball IQ.
2019 6’8 F Dylan Rhoades (Puyallup HS) – A strong power forward that provides a solid inside presence on both sides of the ball. He cleans up misses and finishes well inside. He can alter shots thanks to his height and solid frame.
2019 7’0 C Zane Foster (Puyallup HS) – Zane has collected interest from colleges at all levels. He can really alter shots thanks to his length. He is slowly by surely adding on strength and that is a huge step in his development. After a solid senior season, it will only be a matter of time before he moves onto the next level and helps some program.
