1. Terius Radford PF 6’4″ Cienega
The fact that I never heard of him and he was the one of the breakout players in 5A should tell you something about him. He is a freaky long high-motored forward. He rebounds with the best of them with his desire and athleticism and can face-up from the perimeter out to the 3pt line.
2. Carson Towt PF 6’7″ Gilbert
Towt wasn’t on many lists to start the season and wasn’t ranked at all in the last Prep Hoops 2019 class. He is tough, strong, next level passer and a true glue guy. He scores it from inside and out and keeps improving his craft.
3. Cassius Carmichael SF 6’4″ Ironwood
Carmichael just keeps popping up on every list. He had that kind of season and he is getting heavy recognition for it. He was my overall breakout player of the year from 3A-6A. He is very tough to stop from scoring in the paint despite only being 6’4″. He uses his length, bounce and high IQ to be in the correct spot every possession. He handles the ball like a guard and can make perimeter shots. He guards almost every position on the floor and is a true competitor.
4. Timmy Johnson SG 6’2″ Westwood
Johnson was ranked almost last in the top-132 and will be higher up. He avg over 21 ppg with almost 3 steals per game. He had monster games of 39 and 37 vs Cactus and Mesa respectively. He can hit the 3pt shot plus gets to the line at a good rate. He gets in the passing lanes well and makes plays for others offensively. He is a little thin but is tougher then he looks. Johnson is a true late bloomer. He makes smart decisions and is more skilled then he is athletic, but is very efficient.
5. Shemar Wilson C 6’8″ Tolleson
Wilson is improving leaps and bounds. He is one of the longest players in the class and is a big time shot blocker and rebounder. He moves fluidly around the court and can rip through and score it with a decent handle and long strides. He is a capable perimeter and FT shooter but needs to raise his arc. He can throw it down way above the rim but lacks true strength deep in the paint to hold his ground at times. He has a high upside and he may be a better college player then in HS.
6. Jimmy Causey SF 6’4″ Tolleson
Causey is a powerful athlete. He is a thick downhill lefty that seeks contract and can score through it. He is best off the catch from deep but is very streaky. He has incredible strength and is a terror on the break. He defends his position and rebounds anything near him.
7. Logan McCullough SF 6’3″ Horizon
McCullough also had a breakout season for himself. He avg 5 ppg last year and shot that up to 19 this year. He also avg 7 rebounds per game with two steals and almost 3 assists. He played the 2-4 for his team and actually finished the season as their starting PG showing how versatile he is as a player. He loves getting downhill with contact and he can hit catch 3’s.
8. Jalen Johnson SF 6’6″ Bella Vista Prep HS
Johnson is a long and lean athletic scorer. He is a high flying dunker way above the rim on the break. In the half court set he is a good catch shooter from the arc. He can rip through and finish above or over defenders and can take contact. He is a bit thin but he will be a perfect Juco player that should develop his body and advance his game. After two years he may get on the Division-1 radars.
