When he entered the program the 2017 class was just “pups”, now the strong group of Husky seniors have the Dawgs looking to make a big push in the playoffs. The past season the Huskies fell to Dobson in the first round, the previous year they fell to Red Mountain in the first round.
The Huskies return 7 seniors with varsity experience with a total of 11 players with varsity experience. The Huskies look to achieve success off experiences the past couple seasons. The Huskies still run the “Husky Break” which is the old “LMU Break” which is a fun style of high paced offensive and lots of shots offensively and intensity on both sides of the ball, with lots of rotations within the team.
The Huskies spend their summer at camp daily working on their fundamentals & style of play but additionally are playing in the Paradise Valley High School summer league, as well as a session at the Arizona Christian team camp, and sessions at the Central Jamboree.
Some names to watch for this summer & this upcoming season include:
Jake Hess- Hess who is all-around one of the best athletes in the state is determined to lead Horizon on a deep playoff run, can run the floor well, impacts the game on both sides of the floor is a complete game changer for the Huskies.
Matt Cary-Scrappy guard who knows his role and can shoot the ball exceptionally well as well as take pride in locking up on the defensive end.
Aidyn Albright-Super frosh now a sophomore is one of the best shooters in the state regardless of class, look for him to be very key in the Husky break and style of play which requires outside shooting. Aidyn’s role will continue to grow at Horizon this year, expect him to have a breakout year.
Logan McCullough-Young guard who is gaining experience though AAU & summer league. McCullough has a good energy & can contribute offensively, he needs to keep working on his defense.
Gabe Zdrale-Zdrale is the stretch post player who has great footwork and touch. He possesses a very natural feel for the game and with his ability to shoot he stretches the floor.
Dino Hadizahmetovic-Senior leader who can play both guard spots, has very good strength in which he uses to bully opponents on his way to the basket.
Henry Walsh-A true senior leader who is selfless, pass-first and will do whatever it takes to be successful as a unit and program for Horizon. Walsh has a good basketball IQ and is a big decision maker for the Husky break.
