SG Jordan Goodwin (St. Louis Eagles)
Goodwin told me on Sunday that after clinching a Peach Jam berth he was going to rest his hurt shoulder before getting it looked at Tuesday by a doctor back at home. Well the ultra-competitor had a change of plans as he started for the Eagles in their final EYBL regular season contest. Goodwin didn’t score a ton, but really impressed with his passing ability. He is a plus plus passer for an off guard. Gets in the paint and makes great reads to shooters or dump off passes for bigs. Did damage on the offensive glass as usual. Hit one mid-range jumper. Goodwin is a no doubt high major stud.
SG Tim Finke (St. Louis Eagles)
The state’s top 2018 prospect closed out the spring with another solid effort. He impressed us with his toughness snatching contested 50/50 rebounds among bigger opponents. He had a couple quick finishes around the hoop on crisp cuts to the basket. Finke displayed his shooting ability drilling a one dribble pull up off the bounce as well as a spot up three. High major recruit. Finke went for 13 points and 9 rebounds.
PG Darius Garland (St. Louis Eagles)
Garland is a high IQ 2018 floor general from Tennessee. Throughout the weekend the he ran the show from the Eagles where he displayed an advanced feel for the game. Understands how to run a team in the half court getting his squad into their sets and putting them in positions to succeed. On Monday Garland shot the ball well from the perimeter. His hot three point shooting was one of the key factors in the victory. Garland can hit them both pulling up and off the catch. High major lead guard in the rising junior class. He had 17 points and 8 dimes.
C Patrick Harding (New York Lightning)
Harding is a 6’8” center from Fairfield Prep (NY) that played with a high motor and activity level. The long and rangy big rebounds well in traffic. Also has the mobility to rebound out of his area flying in to grab boards. Strong hands on the interior allow him to catch quick passes and finish with power around the rim. Also works well in the pick and roll as a screener and finisher.
SG Matt Turner (New York Lightning)
Turner is a good sized wing scorer from New York. He has a smooth perimeter game which allows him to get buckets especially from beyond the three point arc. Hit several pull up threes with smooth mechanics. Can also hit off the catch. Turner went for 13 points and 3 assists. Quality low to mid-major target.
SG Gary Trent (Howard Pulley)
The Apple Valley (MN) native is a 6’5” elite scoring threat. Trent is a volume scorer that takes and makes a lot of perimeter jump shots. He gets elevation off the floor and drills jumpers both pulling up off the bounce and off the catch. Hit several tough contested shots with a hand in his face. At times can fall in love with the jumper as he can also attack the rim, but tends to settle a bit for the jumper. Elite scorer is a five star talent nationally.
PF Marco Anthony (Pro Skills)
The undersized 6’6” combo forward makes up for his lack of ideal height while playing on the interior with a versatile and skilled game. Anthony is active in the paint and shoots a high percentage from the field. Was impressed with his passing particularly out of the high post area where he found several teammates for dishes. Solid area rebounder that fights on the glass. Anthony had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Projects as a mid-major recruit.
