Continue ReadingNana Opoku emerged onto the scene last fall at the Metro South Fall League, where the long-limbed 6-foot-7 forward was seen protecting the rim with pride. Over the course of his junior season, he’s blossomed into a confident and dominant paint presence. With solid experience as a state champ, his progression has continued to accelerate this spring.
“I play above the rim, and more Mutombo-ish,” said Opoku. “My ability to shoot the ball from mid range is underrated.”
He’s bulked up a great deal since the start of the 2015-16 season, but he’ll still need to continue to get stronger. Nana will also need to continue to work on his ball handling. He’s an extremely mobile forward with a soft touch to go along with a high motor. Division 1 schools have started targeting the intriguing junior.
“So far the schools I have interest from that I know of are JMU, Charleston, and Kent State,” Opoku stated.
While he is yet to receive his first offer, there’s no denying the significant ceiling which Nana Opoku reflects. He’s gotten better seemingly each time he hits the court, and he appears to be just scratching the surface at this point.
