“My academics are the driving force for my recruiting going forward, so I’ve really been focusing on that and essentially letting that take the wheel,” Hedstrom told NHR. “My sister is going to play basketball at Lehigh next year so I’m definitely going to look at schools out east. I’m also looking into my options for playing college baseball, and it looks like those same schools out east with their high academics would be a good fit for me. I’m not leaning towards baseball or basketball at this point, I’m just exploring both options.”
Burt joined the Comets elite 17U team and brought lots of defense along with some reliable offensive weaponry to the squad. He was a Lake Conference addition along with Simon Wright (Hopkins) and Gavin Baumgartner/Ryan Lindberg (Wayzata). The new guys plus the Comets standards have combined for a No. 5 state ranking by NHR along with a 16-4 record.
“This spring has been great playing with Comets,” he said. “It’s been fun to play with guys that I know from the Lake Conference, yet also meeting new guys from out of the metro. I think we play a great style of basketball with our ball movement that is both fun to play and watch. As far as current recruiting, I’ve really just been open to anything this summer, talking mainly to MIAC schools such as Carleton and St. John’s.”
When asked about who is going to be big for Minnetonka next year, Burt mentioned fellow seniors Matt Haas, Zeke Carver-Bagley, and Nate Shoemaker. Tonka will look quite different after graduating several college-bound playmakers and hiring a new coach in Ryan Freeberg.
