In Border Battle New Names to Know we give you some names that are known in their area but statewide their performances need to be noted. Guys that helped their teams to wins on Saturday!

Ezra Blumer of St. Croix Lutheran. The six foot senior guard scored 20 points making five of seven threes versus Whitefish Bay. The Crusaders move the ball as well as any team did here at the Border Battle and Ezra was a key part of that. A sharp shooter but nothing forced, everything was within the offensive framework. Also chased down seven boards as the Crusaders played small so he has to board plus had four assists.

Mason Cox of Minnesota Valley Lutheran. A 6-foot-4 who had some issues finishing but no issues out-fighting everybody to board. With guards like MVL has all the team needed was Cox o-board collecting and pitching and he did it well.

Quincy Hardel-Davis. A five-foot-11 frontcourt player that plays above his size because he is double tough and maybe the best defensive talker I’ve seen all season. Quincy is a senior and does a superb job of talking his teammates through situations in help, with screens, and everything else.

Calvin Dixon of Rochester Mayo. As a 5-foot-9 guard Calvin is the best senior in the Mayo program. Today he attacked to get to the line, made a three, and scored ten points for the game. A player that has a bit of attack to him when Mayo moves the ball. Scoring night a night.

Patrick Lynott of East Ridge. Not totally sure everyone knows East Ridge 6-foot-3 shooter Patrick Lynott but if you follow high school basketball in Minnesota you should know him now. Lynott hit four treys including two massive momentum boosters early in the game. Patrick forces little but when it comes his way he makes lots.

Josh Matanich of Lake City. Josh is a strong 6-foot-3 offensive lineman style senior post that loves to screen, loves to bang inside, and seems to know his role very well. Scored on the few touches he got and cleared the paint with seven boards.

Dunwa Omot of Minnesota Valley Lutheran. The 6-foot-3 guard continues to emerge. Gave his team 13 points plus four boards and three assists in a blowout win. Did the job off the ball to score using agility that the Thorp kids couldn’t match.

Monty Williams of Apple Valley. There is some potential here. Monty is smaller at 5-foot-9 and there are times where he is speed of play is ahead of the team pace, but the attack step into the separation led to three quality pull-up jumpers. There is a nice shooting touch there, a quickness to him, and the potential to fit into a nice role as an upperclassmen. Had a team high 13 points.
