Sheer size alone is a huge benefit for North Cobb Christian big-man Caleb Crumly, and he knows how to use it.

At 6-foot-9, Crumly is one of the biggest power forwards in Georgia, and it’s on the defensive end where he excels the most.

“My defense is where I make the biggest presence. I block shots pretty well and I then I clog up the middle and my rebounding is important. On offense, it’s mostly inside and mid-range jumpers,” said Crumly, who says improving his body is what he’s focusing on right now.

“Honestly, I just want to push myself as much as I can physically, while I still have the chance to play basketball. For this season and next season, I just want to get prepared the best I can for college, especially with my body.”

Crumly missed the first part of this season because if a foot injury, he returned to the lineup last week. And his leadership has been evident.

“My role is to keep everybody focused and keeping everyone together,” said Crumly. “For me, I need to be a huge presence on defense, and speak up and call everything out out, and rebounding. And also making sure I’m a threat on offense down low.”

This spring and summer, Crumly will play with Team Impact 17U. He’s hoping to see his recruitment to continue and materialize.

“At the point, I’ve been getting some looks from a several different levels. I’ve been getting looked at by a couple D1s, one D2 and then a couple D3 schools. So, I’ve just been talking to the coaches and they’ve come to watch games and workouts,” said Crumly, who has two older brothers playing at the D3 level right now.

“I have two older brothers, so I know how it can be sometimes. Right now, it’s going good, and hopefully it continues to go that way. This upcoming AAU season, I’m just looking to grow and develop and honestly just be able to improve, get better and get my name out there.”
