Isayah Owens – High Point Academy (Spartanburg) (pictured on front)
Owens was really on his game here today for the Grizzlies. Owens scored 30 points in a victory over Hemingway HS. Owens a combo guard is quite shifty with the ball and has the ability to create his own shot. Owens knocked down several jumpers on the floor and plays with a great motor. Owens came into the contest after averaging 18.6 ppg and dishing out 5 assists per contest. Owens started off his high school career at Spartanburg HS and last year played at nearby Chapman HS.
Jayden Byrd – High Point Academy (Spartanburg)
Byrd has been a fixture here for the Grizzlies since we first saw him play at Timmonsville HS in a playoff game as a freshman. Byrd 6’1 is a great catch-shoot guy who takes a high percentage of his shots from downtown. Byrd has a quick shot release and deep range on his shot. Byrd finished with 13 points in the victory.
Kelton Talford – Great Falls HS
Talford has been here since his freshman season producing for the Red Devils. Talford 6’6 is learning to expand game out on the perimeter and shooting 15-17 foot jumpers. Talford has great length and is so active on both ends of the floor. Talford has the ability to take bigger post off the dribble.
Talford’s father is a assistant coach on staff at Great Falls HS and has won 3 state titles as a player and coach. Talford ran on the grassroots circuit with Carolina Pressure. Talford finished with 13 points and several rebounds in the win.
Donnell Adams – Great Falls HS
Adams might be the glue guy for the Red Devils team. Adams 6’0 is a great on the ball defender that just likes to swarm the ball. Adams is a defensive specialist and he’s not afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball. Adams took home high honors for the Red Devils with 14 points.
Aaron Parker – Hemingway HS
Parker 6’2 is a bit of jack of all trades for the Tigers. Parker scores the ball in transition or handles the ball in the backcourt. Parker has the ability to hot open shots and knockdown three pointers from behind the arch. Parker plays in he shadows of seniors Darius Taylor and Darius “JuJu” Williams. Parker made some big shots today for the Tigers but it was quite enough to pullout a victory.
Jacquez Shuler – Bethune-Bowman HS
Shuler 6’9 didn’t play last season at Denmark-Olar HS. Shuler found his way over to Bethune-Bowman HS this coming fall. Shuler still has a baby face and could be still growing. Shuler has good length and still must get stronger with the ball in the paint. Shuler hit a nice 6-8 foot jumper on the floor and finished with 7 points in the loss to Great Falls. The Mohawks have a good piece to build around for the next few seasons because Shuler still has his best basketball in front of him.
