PG McKinley Wright (D1 Minnesota 17U)
Wright was consistent throughout the weekend. The high major lead guard didn’t score a ton, but got all his other weapons involved. He is great at getting in the lane as he wins off the bounce with ease. Quickness in tight spaces allows him to get through traffic. Finds shooters and cutters on a consistent basis. Pushes it in transition. Really improved his feel in the half court for running a team over the last year. When looking to score he is best using his speed in transition for layups or drilling pull up 15-18 foot jumpers. Outstanding defensive rebounder for his size and position.
PF Nathan Reuvers (D1 Minnesota 17U)
Reuvers had his best day of the weekend on Sunday. Long and lanky post that is skilled around the hoop. Reuvers can stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting to out beyond the three point arc. Definitely hasn’t seen a shot he doesn’t like as it is going up with even the slightest room. Would like to see him move the ball from time to time for better looks. He flashes spin moves in the lane with quality footwork and a soft touch around the rim. Hit the offensive glass well for second chance points. Will need to add strength going forward especially in college. Runs the floor with ease. A lot of potential skill to work with. High major prospect.
PF Jericho Sims (D1 Minnesota 17U)
Sims might have had the most impressive performance of the night on Friday. At 6’8” he reminded me a lot of Texas commit James Banks. Sims has long arms and the lefty was tremendously active on the offensive glass. He mauled the Iowa Barnstormers in the first half for second chance points. Explosive second jumper. Uses quickness and athleticism to score. This kid doesn’t know how good he can be! Sky is the limit. Defensively his mobility allows him to defend in a ball screen while still being able to recover and swat shots. High major all the way and top 50 type player.
SF Goanar Mar (D1 Minnesota 17U)
Mar is a rangy 6’7” small forward with length, quickness, and athleticism. I love the intangibles that he brings to the table. Does the dirty work getting loose balls, making the extra pass, and getting offensive rebounds. Plus defender on the wing that moves well laterally and can cut passing lanes. Plays with a tremendously high motor. Can knock down a spot up three or one dribble pull up with a smooth stroke. Mid-major plus prospect.
SG Ishmael El Amin (D1 Minnesota 17U)
Rangy shooting guard that is instant offense. Good spot up shooter that can knock them down with some consistency. Lengthy guard that has slick handles. Born scorer. Might not be the best prospect on his team, but he was incredibly important for them all weekend. Low-major steal.
SF Bailey Basala (Iowa Barnstormers 17U)
Basala used to live in Illinois before crossing the Iowa border to play his junior season. He is a big wing that is usually a marksman from deep. Didn’t shoot it particularly well on Friday night, but used his strength and handles to get to the hoop. Scored well against quality defenders off the bounce with spin moves and quickness off the dribble. Tough kid that just produces and gets the job done. Low-major prospect.
PG Troy Slaby (Wisconsin Academy 17U)
Physically built combo guard that can really shoot the basketball. Was effective pulling up from mid-range as well as three. Hit them off the catch as well. D2 prospect.
PF David Iwowari (1Nation 17U)
Big fan of this strong and mobile four man from the state of Michigan. He is super bouncy and finishes above the rim with explosion. Elite athlete that is quick to the offensive glass. Lacks back to the basket skill. Shot blocking presence on defense. Mid-major kid.
SG Kobe King (Wisconsin Playground Warriors 17U)
The Wisconsin Badgers commit is a top 100 player nationally in the class of 2017. He is coming off a hand injury and is still rounding into form coming off the bench in the game we saw. Silky smooth scorer that operates tremendously well with his mid-range game. Jump shot is pure and smooth. Overall good feel for the game. Didn’t seem like he was going 100%, but there is no doubting the talent as he will be a great Big 10 player for the Badgers.
PG Bailey Kale (Wisconsin Playground Warriors 17U)
Kale is a lefty point guard that has a great feel for the game from the lead guard spot. Plus plus mid-range shooter. Should be looked at by low-major schools.
