When I left Columbia on Saturday afternoon around 2:00 P.M. I worked my way back to the Grand Strand to watch Myrtle Beach HS vs Carolina Forest.
The Myrtle Beach HS Seahawks cruised to a 42-29 halftime lead over the host Panthers at the Black Hole. The teams stayed even heading into the 4th quarter after both scoring 20 points apiece in the 3rd quarter. Myrtle Beach HS led 62-49 heading into the 4th quarter. The Seahawks would eventually win on the road 76-64. The Seahawks move to (3-1) on the season while Carolina Forest falls to (3-3).
Good Guard play wins you games : Emorie Knox and Ayden Hickman – Myrtle Beach HS
The Seahawks back court is ran by Knox (2020) and Hickman (2021). Hickman in just his 4th varsity basketball game led the way with 28 points today while Knox added 20 points. Hickman finished with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Underclassmen Shining : Emorie Knox, Ayden Hickman, Darius Hough and Kyle Watkins
The future is bright on the Grand Strand with these guys and along with some very promising Freshmen in Horry and Georgetown County. Watkins is a play-maker for the Carolina Forest HS Panthers. Watkins finished with 19 points in the loss. Watkins (2021) has great court awareness and a nice mid-range game.
Triple Double : Emorie Knox (2020) – Myrtle Beach HS
Knox could be the quickest guard in the Palmetto State from side to side. Knox (2020) recorded a triple-double today with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. His triple-double is the 1st for the Seahawks since Solomon Cooper did it last during the 2013-2014 season.
Missing in Action (MIA) – Mason Garcia (2020) – Carolina Forest HS
Garcia 6’5 post player for the Panthers was not in uniform for the Panthers. Garcia a quarterback on the gridiron would a been big help for the Panthers if in attendance.
December Outlook –
The Seahawks have a busy week with 3 games vs Conway HS (6-0), Carolina Forest HS (3-3) and then at Conway HS on Saturday night. The Seahawks will play in the Panther Classic – 14 Team event at Carolina Forest HS December 20-22 and then the Beach Ball Classic after Christmas.
The Panthers will play SCISA team Northwood Academy (Summerville) Home and Away this week with Myrtle Beach HS sandwiched in between.
Saturday Night after leaving Carolina Forest HS – I decided to drive over to Sumter and watch the Sumter HS Gamecocks vs Lakewood HS. I literally got into the gym with 45 seconds on the clock and a very low charge on my phone. I really didn’t plan this one out very well for sure.
The Lakewood HS Gators defeated the host Sumter HS Gamecocks for the second time on the young season 68-61. The Gators were led in scoring by Juwan Perdue a Jacksonville State University signee with 26 points. Junior Quentin Hodge added 20 points and Javontae Jones chipped in with 14 points.
