Continue ReadingJoey St. Pierre is among the top post players in the 2017 class standing at 6’10” 260 pounds. St. Pierre transferred back to Richmond Burton after starting the year at Indiana prep school La Lumiere. Displayed some power moves including a nice drop step for scores this spring. St. Pierre finishes powerfully off dump off passes on the interior. Passes it well out of double teams. Rebounds at a solid clip all weekend using his physical mass to box out. Will block an occasional shot. Lacks lateral foot speed guarding in a ball screen defensively. Probably the second best center in the 2017 class and is a prospect that should be looked at by low and mid-majors.
How has the spring gone with the Illinois Wolves 17U?
“It is progressively better. It started off kind of rough after taking three months off playing competitive games switching back to Richmond Burton from La Lumiere. I am getting back into shape and I am making progress. Coach Mullins is helping me out a lot.”
He spoke about where he has been focusing on in his development.
“Getting deeper post position that is what I have really been working on. Playing more aggressive. Playing tough around the hoop.”
When his game is rolling what are his strengths?
“Getting offensive boards. Looking up the floor and running the floor. Using my motor. That is when I get my points on offensive rebounds and tip ins.”
A few schools are showing interest in the post.
“St. Louis, DePaul, and UIC are actively talking to me.”
