2020 Top Performers : Georgetown Kraft Credit Union
The 2020 class of players here at the Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Tourney have had a strong showing. Lets take a look at some of the top performers from the event.
Carrele Cooper – Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island)
Cooper is off to a quick start at his new school in Georgetown County. Cooper arrived at Waccamaw HS this fall from county rival Andrews HS. Cooper scored 25 points in the season opener vs Socastee HS and dropped 22 points last night vs Johnsonville HS.
Cooper has really good length and is better moving away from the ball this season. Cooper still a streaky shooter at times is playing with more confidence and will be the go-to guy for the Warriors this coming season.
Timothy Steele – Conway HS
Steele likes to play inside-out at times for the Tigers. Steele is quite nimble for his size and moves well inside and outside the paint. Steele will be counted on a lot this season for the new look Tigers to lead the team. Steele finished with 14 points in the victory over Georgetown HS.
Payton Lewis – Socastee HS
Lewis has been a welcome addition to the senior heavy Braves roster. Lewis drove down Highway 707 for 6.3 miles to enroll at Socastee HS after playing at St James HS. Lewis compliments Kassius “Jay” Williams, Jonathan wright and Jevon Griffin in the backcourt. Lewis is crafty with the ball at times and has the ability to get the ball to the basket.
Darrell Gardner – Georgetown HS
Gardner is a undersized shooting guard who seems to be best suited off the ball. Gardner has a bit of a weird looking stroke but the ball seems to get into the basket. Gardner really likes to setup shop behind the three point line. Gardner scored 18 points in the loss to Conway HS last evening.
Jaylen Green – Philip Simmons HS (Charleston) (pictured on front)
Green 6’4 is a run-jump-athlete for the Iron Horses. Green NEVER seems to leave the floor and brings constant energy. Prep Hoops first saw Green on the Grassroots Circuit with TMP 16U. Green is a very versatile player and at times tonight played 1-3 positions on the floor for the Iron Horses.
Tyree Funnye – Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island)
Funnye came up big tonight for the Warriors with 19 points. Funnye 6’1 wide receiver plays with a great motor and always seems to be in attack mode. Funnye never plays the game with a lack of effort to say the least.
** Cooper,Grant and Funnye all ran with the same Grassroots program Manzer this past season.
