Preview: 2021 Sleepers (Wichita)
We will continue to learn more and more about the class of 2021 as those prospects develop and get varsity experience. Here are a few 2021 sleepers for the Wichita area for the 2018-2019 season.
Kyle Church- Campus High School
Kyle was a part of the Kanas Pray and Play 15U team this summer that made a name for themselves nationally.
A high-academic guard/forward who can really shoot the ball and does the little things to help his team succeed.
Kyle has a high basketball IQ for his class and has good size at 6’2’’ to be versatile on the court.
Trey Abasolo- Mulvane High School
Trey started last year for Mulvane, at least for a portion of the year from what I saw, and while raw in areas, he was impressive for a freshman.
Trey handled the ball well last year, put forth effort defensively, and had good footwork.
It will be exciting to see if this is the year that his body catches up to his skill level, and if so, he could be a major part of the Mulvane team this year.
Grant Johnson- Kapaun High School
Grant has good quickness that he uses to get in the lane and play off the defense from there. He plays off of two feet well and can finish in the paint.
He will certainly have an enhanced role at Kapaun entering this season.
Michael Fair- Collegiate High School
Michael is a strong player with an athletic build who uses his strength inside to clear space and be a force rebounding the ball.
At 6’0’’, he is stronger than most every player he faces his age that is a comparable size to him which allows him to get what he wants offensively going towards the basket.
Liam Smith- Kapaun High School
Liam had a solid showing at the Prep Hoops Top 250 expo as he is a strong guard who uses his body well to get where he wants on the court to be effective.
He has a good feel for the game and often makes the right play showing his IQ and maturity when on the court.
Keither Florence- Wichita Heights
Keither has only been playing basketball for two years and has big time upside. At 6’6’’, while still raw, he is extremely athletic and a hard worker on and off the court.
Battling with Danair Dempsey in practice each day should pay dividends for Keither and help get him up to speed as he continues to get more reps. Definitely a name to know for the future.
