Combine Player Recaptures
Big men benefited from former college big Jaime Burkhard’s detailed instruction Sunday at the Above the Rim / PrepHoopsTN Fall Combine. Dalton Marsh is destined for a college roster. After a wonderful summer with EAB 16u he is ready to dominate the high school season.
Learn about Raymon Adams, Gabe Coleman, Alex Rush, and Dalton Marsh below.
Dalton Marsh 2020 Red Boiling Springs Forward
Largely on the broad shoulders of Dalton Marsh Red Boiling Springs High began their 2017-2018 season with twelve wins in sixteen games. It was the program’s best start in seven years. The second half was less impressive. Much can be said about Marsh’s tremendous EAB 16u AAU season, but how did he do Sunday in the gym?
Dalton’s two-footed, two-handed dunk is unblockable at the TSSAA level. The vertical was better than expected for the hulking Marsh. Keep in mind Dalton is a true forward. His technique is impressive, but the soft touch is everything you have ever dreamed of.
Raymon Adams 2021 Lipscomb Academy Forward
One of the taller players in attendance, the 6-foot-5 combo forward Raymon Adams looks like a future lithe college player. His agility at 6-foot-5 is exceptional in the region. He moves better than almost any high school bigs, but shouldn’t stick at center of power forward too long…unless he grows to 6-foot-7+. Adams likes to pass big to big and possesses that rare mixture of courageous and complimentary styles. He can dominate or defer and doesn’t appear to mind doing either. Adams earned his way into the Above The Rim Gym / PrepHoopsTN All-Star Game.
Alex Rush 2021Upperman Forward
At nearly 6-foot-6, Alex Rush is a wonderfully technical high school starter as a floor. How much better than that can he be? It depends. This Alex, anticipating ordinary skill development throughout high school, at 6-foot-8 would be an fringe OVC-level player. Growing taller is not really something Alex controls. What he can improve is bounce off the deck. He does not fear contact, but contact will find him against scarier, bigger defenders in the distant future. He has to keep his powerful frame and even improve with continued weight room work.
Gabe Coleman 2021 Lawrence County Wing
The Lawrence County guard walked in the door ranked #79 in the state. His reputation with @PrepHoopsTN largely came from game film and highlights which displayed a nice offensive flair. Sunday Gabe proved that his offensive urgency is not an occasional thing. In fact, Gabe was Sunday and is apparently always one of the hardest workers on the floor.
Coleman lacks the explosion of other 2021 guards we saw, but he can beat you with so many different mid-air adjustments. The offensive mind of Gabe is fun to watch operate.
