SG Drew Evans (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
It was a breakout weekend for the Thornwood unsigned senior. At 6’5” the strong and powerful guard that uses an explosive first step off the bounce to get to the rim with speed where he either finishes or gets to the charity stripe. Sound jump shooter that’s range reaches out to three. Showed his defensive prowess on Sunday getting in passing lanes and turning them into points on the other end. He needs to be under consideration by low-major programs as he has no current D1 offers.
SG Zach Couper (RWA 17U)
Couper had another solid day helping his RWA team capture the open division championship. The 6’5” shooting guard really put his name on the D1 map with his play in Minnesota. He is a versatile scorer that had it working shooting from deep on several pull up threes along with a slick step back. Plays with a motor and rebounds well for his position. Tough. Has a passing feel for an off guard. Couper had 18 points.
SF Doug Wallen (Illinois Irish 17U)
Wallen was outstanding in the Irish final game of the weekend. The 6’5” versatile forward does a little bit of everything. He cuts away from the hoop to receive passes for scores inside. Can hit mid-range jumpers. Excellent decision maker as a passer. Showed toughness defensively hitting the glass snatching 50/50 balls and even blocked a few shots. Just a guy you want on your side because he competes and does a little bit of everything. High D2/low-major D1 prospect.
PG Amir Brummett (All-In/Young & Reckless 16U)
The 6’2 point guard from Decatur MacArthur played better in other games this weekend, but was solid in their morning contest Sunday. Amir is a powerfully built combo guard that is usually a lights out shooter with range. The three want really falling, but he found other ways to impact the game. Brummett has potential as a passer as he pushes it in the open floor and will make a couple passes each game that wow you. Needs to cut down on the turnovers, but has a high ceiling as a scoring lead guard. Physical on the interior against smaller point guards posting them up and sticking his nose in on the glass. Defensively pressures the ball. D1 prospect in 2018 that schools should start monitoring.
SG Quinlan Bennett (Kessel Heat 16U)
Bennett is a long and lanky 6’3” shooting guard who had a big weekend in Minnesota. The 2018 prospect from Proviso East plays with high energy diving after loose balls on the floor. Smooth with the ball in his hands especially in transition. Displayed a nice passing feel and brought the ball up quite a bit initiating the offense. Defensively he is intriguing with his length, lateral quickness, and anticipation. Should be a kid low-majors start to monitor.
