VA Top 250 Best Upperclassmen Playmakers
MECHANICSVILLE, VA — The Prep Hoops Top 250 came to Hanover High School on Sunday, where the talent pool was deep, and the games competitive. Here we begin our coverage of the event by highlighting five upperclassmen who stood out as a result of their playmaking abilities.
DAVID PENNEY | MIDDLEBURG ’19
David Penney was unstoppable off the dribble, and as good of a paint getter as there was in the camp. From there, Penney’s decision making and vision was commendable.
BRYCE HALL | CARLISLE ’19
Bryce Hall was a new face that stood out because of his ball handling and passing skills. Hall was often the distributor of an exciting highlight play.
LA GATES | NORTHSIDE ’20
LA Gates is a high IQ playmaker that played to his strengths throughout the day. Gates was one of the best passers we saw, and did not make many mistakes while in possession.
MATTHEW PEARSON | OSBOURN ’19
6-foot-2 southpaw Matthew Pearson demonstrated good vision and played unselfishly on Sunday. Pearson’s blend of size, skill and awareness helped him consistently create easy looks for himself and others.
TEON TILLER | THOMAS JEFFERSON ’19
Teon Tiller is a crafty playmaker who understands angles and how to use them to his advantage. Tiller was tough to keep out of the lane all day, and his speed was devastating to deal with at times.
