Top 250 Expo: Stock risers, guards (2020)
Here is a look at several 2020 guards who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
4-Kamari Armstrong, 6’0, G, 2020, Olathe East (Kan.)
Armstrong can handle the ball and shoot at a high level. He has a great off-balance game and finds his rhythm quickly from the start. He didn’t always get the touches he deserved, but he finds a way to play smart with the ball. He can drive on opponents, play off the ball and find the open man on the block. Armstrong is a player who is one extra pass away from another basket.
7-Travis Beetch, 6’3, G, 2020, Abilene (Kan.)
A lanky guard who is good at making opponents use their weak hands and finishing around the basket. Beetch is an athletic player who comes up big by staying active. He plays fast and can poke the ball away from opponents and pass ahead to open teammates. He’s a fine team player who is willing to take on the opposing team’s most creative player.
39-Cole Gordon, 6’3, G, 2020, Goddard (Kan.)
Another guard who plays hard and doesn’t give up on plays that are out his control. Gordon is a hard-nosed defender and a pest in the open floor. He makes opponents work for everything and can force mistakes an opponents to use their weak hand. He also has some nice hops and can finish around the basket and score off second-chance opportunities.
72-Mitch Munsen, 6’2, G, 2020, Manhattan (Kan.)
A good team player who makes solid passes and gets back on defense quickly. Munsen has good speed and size and possesses a smooth off-hand floater coming off the baseline. Tricky stuff comes naturally to him. He finds a way to score in odd situations. More than anything, Munsen hustles. He does the little things well and comes away with steals.
