“Our team is doing really good,” started Van Haren. “We have been doing really good on the road being able to win on other home courts.” Some of those wins include Desert Vista, St. Mary’s, and Sunnyslope.
A high IQ point guard, Kyle is very good at controlling pace. He is a confident ball handler that plays with poise and looks to get the right people the ball in the right situations. A self-described “streaky shooter” Van Haren has been working on the consistency of his outside shot.
Numerous college programs have taken notice to Kyle’s abilities.
“I have been in contact with a few schools. Embry Riddle, South Mountain CC, Phoenix College, and Arizona Christian University recently reached out to me. I took a visit to Embry Riddle this past summer and it was a good experience for me.”
Currently possessing a 3.2 GPA, Van Haren is unsure what he will be majoring in but did discuss some of the things he is looking for in a school.
“I am looking for a school to play at where I will be able to get playing time and that will help make me a better basketball player overall. I’m unsure of what of I’ll be majoring in but, as of right now, I have been interested in business.”
Kyle stated that he is looking to make a decision in the coming months. Right now, however, Van Haren’s main focus is on Perry basketball.
“I feel that we can make a deep run in playoffs and have a chance to win state if we continue to work as hard as we have done all season long.”
