The Expo: Team 13 Prospect Breakdown

The Expo featured 160 prospects from the 2027 and 2028 classes, and that number was evident when stepping into Supreme Courts in Aurora, as the gym was packed with spectators and players ready to compete, showcase their abilities, and raise their recognition. Over the coming weeks, I'll have breakdowns of Teams 3, 4, 13, and 14. We'll start with Team 13, which featured a solid group of individuals who complemented each other well.    Strong-bodied guard who thrived attacking the rim with his strength and control. Did a good job using his body to shed defenders and create space, while also showing the ability to back down defenders and find good angles around the basket. His attack mentality allowed him to initiate contact, play through it, and finish, while also drawing fouls and getting to the charity stripe. Liked his use of a power dribble under the rim to create separation for cleaner attempts. Also showed range on his shot, keeping defenders honest and making them think twice about whether he was going to drive or take the open look.     Did a well-rounded job handling the ball against pressure, utilizing a skilled spin move to break away from defenders while maintaining control. His ball-handling included a variety of moves that allowed him to attack driving lanes and get to the rim. Had a great sequence when he picked up his dribble, pivoted several times looking for a pass, and when there was no option, calmly knocked in a mid-range jumper. On the defensive end, Chilton played tight on-ball, making it uncomfortable for opposing guards, and showed the fight to get through ball screens. Also liked his aggressiveness competing on the glass.     Was an all-around bright spot, and his game continues to grow. Knockdown lefty shooter from the perimeter with good touch, while his ability to run an offense and create with the ball in his hands has also developed. His passing game is another aspect to take note of, showing touch on passes to avoid deflections and steals while knowing when to use the chest, overhead, or bounce pass. His defensive shuffle showed his quickness to stay in front, maintain a wide stance, shift his hips, and deny passing lanes. Been great to see his scoring arsenal remain consistent while continuing to develop, along with his unselfishness to distribute and create for others.     Showed a knack for getting by defenders and creating from the paint, including a efficient euro step. Extra passes along the arc made the defense move, opening up distance shots for himself that he was able to knock down. Showed improving vision to find cutters and hit them in stride, while also using his eyes to lure defenders away from his target. His defensive intensity increased throughout the day, creating steals and showing a willingness to get on the floor. Even when he got beat, Sutton showed the speed to hustle back and apply pressure from behind.     Kumpis's constant movement, relocation, and spacing were a key factor for his team. Found open pockets to flash into in the halfcourt, helping keep the offense flowing and creating opportunities for teammates. Had a nice jump stop, close-range jumper, while consistently finding looks at the rim and, at times, finishing through contact.     Talked with teammates to set up on- and off-ball screens throughout the day. His size and reach were a big contributor on both ends of the glass, helping him secure missed shots and create second-chance opportunities. Showed his smarts diving into the paint, receiving passes, and finishing at the rim. Developing a baby hook on the blocks and around the front of the rim, while also using a power dribble to create better close-range attempts. Big man ran the floor well and showcased a three-point shot when open without forcing it.     More of a defensive-minded, team-first player who put his body on the line multiple times in the first matchup. His longer frame was a plus defensively, allowing him to slide with ball-handlers and shut down passing lanes. Showed smart help-side defense around the rim and communicated on screens, allowing his guards to get through or switching when needed.     Big-time floor runner who got out in transition quickly to provide instant scoring. Was impressed with his baseline drives throughout the day, keeping his head up to find teammates in the corner or cutters from the top and wings. While playing off-ball, there were numerous times Reynolds got behind the defense. Even when he didn't receive the pass, his movement and ability to find those openings showed his vision and created opportunities for the offense.     Showed promising ball-handling and the ability to maintain control as defensive pressure increased. Liked his reads when defenses tried to trap, as Ruiz either beat the pressure or passed out before the trap could develop, putting his team in an advantageous position. His three-point shot looks clean and should become a bigger weapon with more efficiency. Also enjoyed seeing his help-side defense, as he recognized opportunities to provide support and prevent open looks or easy drives.     Energetic driver who put pressure on the rim and showed his toughness finishing through contact and connecting from difficult angles. Had some nice, accurate passes while making the right reads, even flashing a no-look pass that was right on target. Backcuts kept defenders off-balance and created space for teammates to take advantage of. Also showed his leaping ability, rising for dunks in the open floor.
