The last time I watched Chris play was a year ago. He continues to be an excellent ball handler and facilitator. The majority of his assists led to positive outcomes for [program_tooltip program_id='2076166' first='Grand' last='Park Premier'] 2031 Red. Some were flashy, some were traditional chest and bounce passes. All were effective throughout the game. Chris was passive on offense during Saturday's game. I was shocked because this was not the same player I remember seeing last year. The 2025 Chris I saw was a scorer and play-maker. So I know he has the ability to put up great scoring numbers. He's capable of beating defenders off the dribble, attacking the basket or scoring floaters in the paint. He also knocks down short perimeter shots and three-pointers when he has the opportunity. I witnessed these traits within his skill-set which makes me believe Chris was not in the flow of the game. I believe he needs to have a mentality of attacking from start to finish. If this happens, I expect Chris to be a serious problem for opposing coaches and defenders. He's an excellent young guard who has the chance to be great with growth and maturity.

Ty is a complete player who did a little of everything for the team. He excelled at getting around defenders and making plays. Whether it was attacking the basket, knocking down three-pointers or setting up teammates with great passes, Ty was a problem for the opposition. Rebounding the basketball was also a strength. He didn't mind battling opposing players in the paint. His defensive boards led to transition points for [program_tooltip program_id='2076166' first='Grand' last='Park Premier'] 2031 Red. He's a great team player who showed his willingness to do whatever it took to win the game. Defensively, he was great at timing the passes from opposing players. This led to multiple steals throughout the game. In my opinion, Ty is a young talent who could become even greater in the coming years.

He's an excellent shooter who looked to score whenever he was behind the three-point line. Ryker was very crafty with finding ways to get open. He ran around screens and used various moves that gave him clean looks at the basket. Don't be fooled by his shooting prowess! Ryker also showed the ability to attack the basket. He made these plays on numerous occasions. There was a moment in the game when Ryker made a great move to get around his opponent. He drove the ball into the paint and scored. The threat of him shooting, led to an easier shot attempt. Ryker is an excellent shooter who's capable of knocking down four to six threes once he sees one go down. I spoke with his coach after the game and was told how Ryker knocked down eight threes in another tournament. Based on what I saw and what I've been told, Ryker seems to be the designated shooter for [program_tooltip program_id='2076166' first='Grand' last='Park Premier'] 2031 Red. Keep shooting Ryker!!

Reece Gibson 5-11- 2031- Noblesville East Middle School- IBC Heat 2031

Reece is an excellent two-way player. He showed great instincts on both offense and defense. He was so tuned into the game. Reece was able to be a difference maker on both ends of the court. He applied great on-ball pressure and finished the game with two steals. The forced turnovers he made led to transition scoring opportunities for his teammates. He's a good ball handler who had no problems getting by opposing defenders and making plays. The majority of his scores came off strong dribble drives to the basket. Occasionally, Reece showed the ability to knock down perimeter jump-shots. He's a hard working player who showed no fear of attacking the basket, grabbing rebounds or going after loose balls. Reece played hard on both ends of the court. If he continues to build his game up offensively, Reece could become a great all around player in the coming years. Keep working Reece!!

He's a great rebounder who attacked the boards on both ends of the floor. Kayvin did all the intangibles on the basketball court. It wasn't just about scoring and I appreciated this aspect of his game. He set perfect screens that allowed his teammates to take high percentage shots. On numerous occasions, Kayvin ran the floor and scored in transition. Whenever his teammates missed shots, he was always there to rebound and score around the basket. Kayvin is also a good passer. The majority of his assists were on the money. They led to easy scores for other Train for the Best 13u players. Defensively, he was able to block a couple of shots and deter opposing players from easily getting into the paint. Kayvin needs to add more to his game offensively. Once he develops a jump-shot or the ability to consistently beat defenders off the dribble, Kayvin could become more of a threat on offense. Keep working, Kayvin!!

Paxton was a big-time presence in the paint on both offense and defense. He dominated in the post with a variety of moves. Paxton took full advantage of mis-matches in the post. He used pump fakes, turn around jump-shots and great footwork to be effective throughout the game. Paxton dominated the glass and finished with double-digit rebounds to end the game. A majority of the offensive boards he grabbed, led to easy put-backs around the basket. Defensive rebounds became outlet passes that started fast-break opportunities. There was a moment in the game when Paxton extended his range outside the paint. He was able to knock down shots on the perimeter without hesitation. Defensively, Paxton blocked shots and protected the paint from opposing players who attacked the basket. Paxton is a skilled big man who plays the game with great energy. Keep it up Paxton!!
