There are many talented players in the world of grassroots basketball. Prep basketball, which consists of high school-age players playing under college rules, is particularly untapped. Here are some of the top hoopers not yet committed to a college.

[player_tooltip player_id='2242380' first='Ruey' last='Ruey'] started to pop in coaching and scouting circles alike this year, but is still flying under the radar of many. The Elite Prep League player of the year was named a National Prep Championship All-American, yet still has few college offers. Ruey is one of the most electric scorers in the nation, with numerous go-to moves and shotmaking ability at all three levels. Defensively, Ruey is a competitor whose size and frame allow him to guard multiple positions on the court. His motor and wingspan, combined with strong instincts, make him a solid weak-side rim protector as well.

Favour is a legit 7-footer playing for Mt zion in Prince George's County, Maryland. Defensively, Ibe is a disciplined defender, staying down on upfakes and vertically contesting shots, committing few fouls. He's agile for his size and has solid lateral quickness, showing an ability to slide with less shifty guards tho his technique is still raw in this aspect. Offensively, he has outstanding touch, especially on floaters near the rim. He's experimented with three-point shooting, and while nothing of impact has materialized yet, he has started to hit free-throw line jumpers at a decent clip. A small sample size, but at the national prep championships, he took 4 jump shots all from a similar spot on the floor and made 2. He's good at creating a passing angle for his post-ups and has developed a strong drop step, often leading to a scoop layup with his left hand or a post hook with his right. He also has shown improved hands over the course of the season and looks more comfortable gathering.

Preston is a 6-foot-10 post-grad 2026 player who is now playing for the Academy of Central Florida. Recruitment for Wade has cooled down, and it's puzzling to me that the big man is unsigned. Wade has a solid jumper with range extending to the three-point line and a form resembling a slingshot. His finishing around the paint is impressive. He has good body control and takes advantage of his slim frame, coupling it with solid footwork to split defenders, finding seams in a crowded paint to finish. His finishing numbers around the rim are in the 70s; being evidence of his touch around the basket. He has a knack for offensive rebounding tipping the ball into the basketball or athletically contorting his body for midair layups. His offensive rebounding is all the more impressive when you factor in the slight physicality issues that his bow legs and slim frame can present at times. One other thing I would like to highlight is his high IQ and knowledge of floor spacing/balancing at this level. Timely cuts and relocations to open driving lanes or give his ball handlers an easier passing angle. Defensively hes a force around the rim blocking and changing shots all in the paint. He's agile on the perimeter and can often match smaller ball handlers step for step and change directions to contest shots after the inevitable dumpoff pass.

Kamari Whyte is the youngest player on this list a 27 combo guard playing for Vermont Academy in New England. Whyte is featured in a heavy amount of pick and roll, often operating from very high on the floor. But due to his burst and long first stride off the dribble, he gets downhill quickly. One of his patented shots is that free-throw line jumper that he can get to either off-ball or out of the pick and roll. He has a high release jumper, and he shoots it almost like a fallaway, leaning back, creating as much space as possible. He's a force in transition and has an effortless level change, allowing him to get into the chest or even core/legs of a defender, create space, and draw contact. Because of this, he gets a favorable whistle and is on the receiving end of a lot of three-point plays.

Defensively, he's great in the passing lanes but more like a cornerback than a safety. He knabs the ball just as it's hitting the offensive player's hands, then takes it, heading the other way.

Hakeem Weems is a post-grad forward playing for IMG Academy. He's a lanky prospect with eye-catching fluidity. He can space the floor a bit, and he can put the ball on the floor with a strong handle for his size. He looks almost like a Paul George type of guy with the fluidity his handle has, just flowing from combo to combo.
