KC Classic: Top Stock Risers
LAWRENCE, Kan. — The final day of the Kansas City Classic in Lawrence, Kan. on Sunday featured several players putting together solid performances. Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who raised their profile at the event.
33 — Xavier Bell, 6’4, G, 2020, Andover Central (Kan.), MoKan Elite 16U (underrated)
Bell is one of the state’s premier rising prospects in the 2020 class, able to handle the point, carve out a path to the bucket off the bounce and brings poise and leadership to the court. Bell has also taken his outside shooting to new heights, displaying a smooth left-handed 3-point stroke which makes him an even tougher cover on the perimeter.
25 — Levi Braun, 6’4, G, 2019, Hayden (Kan.), SSA Elite Black (top shooters)
Braun has developed into one of the premier shooters in the 2019 class and showcased that skill throughout the weekend, knocking down a host of perimeter shots. He is a terrific ball handler who can set up his own shot off the dribble, handle the point guard duties and is a tough competitor at the defensive end.
7 — Cade McGaugh, 6’4, G, 2019, Maize (Kan.), Epps Elite (Underrated)
McGaugh has largely flown under the radar in Kansas hoops, but he showed he can fill it up with the best of them in a hard fought loss to Team Rush on Saturday. McGaugh can shoot it from distance, handle the ball and create his own shot off the bounce. He has good size and length and is poised for a big senior season at Maize.
24 — Spencer Jones, 6’6, F/G, 2019, Bishop Miege (Kan.), KC Spurs Black (versatile)
Jones is the ultimate glue guy type player, able to defend multiple positions, rebound, handle the ball and can knock down shots out to the 3-point line as well. He seems comfortable in a do-whatever-takes type role. He has good size and athleticism and brings some toughness to the floor as well.
