Game Recap

From the opening tip, there was just a feeling that [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] was going to have a big time game. The versatile 6'7” Senior Forward started the game with a pair of assists before he went to work. Boonville tried guarding him with different guys, but to no prevail, Holmes was getting any look he wanted and converted early. Despite the defensive troubles early, the Pioneers Junior Duo of [player_tooltip player_id='2140326' first='Bradyn' last='Egli'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain'] kept them in it with their playmaking and scoring abilities with the 1st Quarter ending all knotted up at 12 with Egli and McKain with 6 points each while [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

With 5:52 to play in the half, [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] picked up his second foul and exited the game. The offense stalled on both sides. Strahle scored 5 straight points as Boonville trailed Princeton 26-19 at halftime.

It was a back and forth 3rd Quarter with teams trading buckets until just under the four minute mark, Boonville went on a run fueled by 6'4” Junior Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain']. There was a two minute stretch in the 3rd Quarter where Princeton couldn't keep him out of the lane and McKain was capitalizing on every opportunity as he had 11 of his game high 17 points in the quarter as the Pioneers outscored Princeton 20-11 in the 3rd Quarter to take a 39-37 lead into the final period.

The 4th Quarter belonged to the Princeton Tigers. [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] started off with a quick bucket and Boonville started missing shots that they were hitting in the 3rd Quarter as Princeton started on an 8-0 run and never looked back. 6'1” Sophomore Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2539928' first='Quintyn' last='Voltz'] got going a bit offensively and 6'3” Senior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560981' first='Demarcus' last='Newson'] hit four consecutive free throws to keep the Pioneers at bay as the Princeton Tigers defeated the Boonville Pioneers 53-47 taking a commanding two game lead in the conference race with three weeks to play in the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'], Princeton's Indiana Junior All-Star 6'7” Senior Forward was a man amongst boys in this game finishing with a monstrous double-double. He was a matchup nightmare for the Pioneers all night impacting the game on both ends of the floor. His versatility is what makes him such a unique talent in the high school game. He's a combo forward that can initiate offense. He has incredible court vision. A capable three-point shooter that has to be respected. He's a versatile defender that guards multiple positions and is a formidable rim protector at this level. His presence is felt every second he is on the court and could be the very reason he ends up being a 2026 Indiana All-Star.
