The Prep Hoops Series started yesterday in Myrtle Beach, SC. The field consists of just over 30 teams in this inaugural event. The action was solid all day long with great entertaining games. Prep Hoops will have a complete rundown of all the action this coming week on the site. Lets take a look at some of the tidbits from yesterday.
Team Wall Southeast-Marion goes (3-0) on opening day of action.
Team Wall Southeast-Marion 15U finished the day at (3-0). The Pee Dee based team were led by Marshall Myers and TJ Sanders. Myers (2021) made shots from all 3 levels today on the floor. Myers averaged 13.5 ppg and 6 assists this past season at Cheraw HS. Sanders finished it seemed like everything in the paint. Sanders has a great knack to finish with his left-hand quite frequently despite being right-handed.
Carolina Pressure 16U and 17U both head into today with (2-0) records. Both squads will play the Charlotte Nets in the semifinals. The Carolina Pressure squads were playing with heavy hearts having hearing about the passing of teammate Amon Rice earlier in the day.
JaVon Anderson and Kelton Talford led the way in the morning session with a win over the Journeymen (FL). Anderson finished with 17 points while Talford was just all over the glass and finished with 16 points.
McDaniels takes opening day high scorer honors in a game
The Pressure 16U squad was in scoring by Mequaje McDaniels with 35 points vs Rock Nation 16U. McDaniels scored 14 baskets without converting a three pointer in the game. Sincere Whitmore hit some clutch three pointers down the stretch in the win.
Zyan Gilmore scored 30 points in his Team Stroke win over the South Carolina Kings 16U. Gilmore (2020) averaged 28.4 ppg this season at Clarendon Hall in Summerton.
