Brecksville-Broadview Heights has been one of the surprise stories in northeast Ohio this season, currently sitting at 13-0. Mehendale is a force on the interior for the Bees as he's switchable defensively, an impressive shot blocker and a high riser as a roller to the basket. Mehendale actually leads all of northeast Ohio in blocks per game according to Cleveland.com. The Bees went down to their yearly holiday tournament and defeated fellow Ohio squad Lakota East in the title, allowing Ben and two of his teammates to be named to the all-tournament team. Expect to hear about Brecksville-Broadview Heights in the playoffs as they project to be one of the top seeds in Division II from northeast Ohio with their pick of path.

Arlington is back again after a regional title last season, Willow has his team back in the mix as a senior. His standout performance this season came against Spencerville where Willow scored 35 points in a statement win. That win was the Red Devils eighth in a row and that streak is up to nine with a weekend trip to Smithville to face Wooster Triway in the Battle at the Berkey, an event filled with regional title contenders.

Westerville North is a threat to repeat as state champions in Division II thanks to the play of guards like McCree. A nice balance between tough on ball defense and real on-ball scoring juice, McCree is a guy opposing guards don't want hounding them full court but also don't want to get caught on an island against. In Westerville North's latest statement win, McCree poured in 17 points against a tough Cincinnati Aiken squad. Look for McCree to potentially be an instant contributor at the small college level.

Mason has been one of the surprise stories of the season and their collective defensive unity has been a major part of their success. Offensively, a majority of the volume comes at the hands of Johnson. The second leading scorer in the conference, Johnson is super shifty on the ball and gets to the rim early and often. As a 6'0 guard who has only made eight 3-pointers on the season, Johnson's ball skills and pace have to be elite for him to score at the rim at the rate he does. His aggressiveness as a driver pays off, he's almost to 100 free throw attempts on the season already.

La Salle got off to a blazing start this season and while they've cooled off recently with losses to GCL rivals, Robertson's production has not as the second leading scorer in the GCL-South. Robertson is just a flat-out competitor who contributes to winning on both ends of the court. The Lancers finally snapped a four-game losing streak with a blowout win over Elder as Robertson led the way with 16 points. After getting past their losing streak, I expect La Salle to rack up some wins before a potential deep playoff push in a wide-open Division III SW region.
