Spring Preview: 2019 Post Athletes
The spring is now just about here and we are spending time over the next month preparing and previewing all you need to know about the 2019 class as AAU gets ready to get going. We will breakdown many areas with not only position breakdowns but the best of the best. Today, we are looking at those top athletes in the 2019 class.

Sam Devault | 6’8 | PF | Evansville Memorial |
Breakdown: The 2019 class has bigs and post players for days and as the game has changed with player’s role at the next level, this group has a lot of those qualities.
Jakobie Robinson might be a guy to really track because he has a lot of things that have yet to really come together and that is backed by has high-end athleticism. His skill is still developing but he’s good in the open floor and can explode to the rim.
Trayce Jackson-Davis has really come on since last summer as one of the best players in the country. At 6’9 and with his ability to block shots, get up and down the court, and move with the ball, he’s quite possibly the best athlete in the state. Elite explosion and length make him a stellar shot blocker.
Mason Gillis is similar to Brandon Newman from the guards we wrote about earlier. For his size, he’s an outstanding athlete and just so powerful with everything he does. Leaping ability has improved and he’s really moving well along the perimeter too.
Dawand Jones is really surprising as an athlete as you watch him. Big, big post player but so nimble with his footwork and his foot speed is outstanding as well. He’s going to be one of those players that could make the NFL just because of those two things, but then you add in that he can get up and finish above the rim and you are left shocked.
Sam Devault is another big who can stretch the floor. His footwork is pretty solid as he can play along the wing and create shots for himself. Not at the point where he can take guys off the bounce but his lateral quickness and length make him pretty good defensively.
