About Declan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a traditional, bruising post player who dominates inside through sheer physicality and positioning. I rely on your strength to seal defenders, control the defensive glass, and finish consistently in the paint using powerful drop steps and reliable hook shots. I am the immovable object in the lane.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I don't waste energy on flash; every move is purposeful. I focus on perfecting fundamentals (box-outs, screens, hook shots) because I know strength without technique is chaos. I set the tone inside. I talk a lot on defense, but with a strong tone. I let my physical impact and relentless effort speak for itself. Opponents know that entering the paint against me will be painful and difficult.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm not involved in any clubs or organizations, but I do participate very much during school, showing my academic strength and smarts. I am also involved in a group with my church that annually attends trips to different places in the US and participates in many different tasks. Some of those could be repairing houses or sheds or going to places to volunteer as a chaperone or tutor.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

The qualities I've developed all flow from my commitment to physical and mental dominance and winning. They aren't soft skills; they're results. These qualities are Ironclad Leadership, I lead by example and presence. Unrivaled Composure, when the game gets physical, I'm at my best. Team Anchor/Protector, I've become one of the team's most reliable interior defenders.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My challenges are purely physical. My conditioning sometimes lags slightly behind my power. I'm focusing on adding a few more advanced counter-moves and refining my passing out of the post under pressure, just to keep the defense honest and maximize my efficiency. The only thing preventing me from maximizing every scoring opportunity is consistency at the free-throw line.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has great engineering facilities, as that is what I would like to major in. I might be good, but I have to be good enough by senior year because I will not settle for a mediocre school.
