College Tracking: Class of 2015
What prospects from the 2015 class out of the state of Illinois made an impact in college this year? We look back at the top 20 prospects and how they played this season!
Jalen Brunson (Stevenson – Villanova)
19.4 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 4.7 APG
Brunson was considered by many as the National College Player of the Year this past season. The lefty guard is the ultimate leader and winner at the college level. Should find a home as a second round pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
Charles Matthews (St. Rita – Michigan)
12.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 2.6 APG
Matthews transferred from Kentucky after his freshman year and has found a home at Michigan. He showed off his offensive pop that made him such a coveted high school recruit this season.
Marcus Lovett (Morgan Park – St. John’s)
14.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1.7 APG
Lovett started off the season blazing including 23 point in their opener. He left the team in December and is pursuing his professional options most likely overseas.
Ed Morrow (Simeon – Marquette)
Morrow sat out this past season after transferring to Marquette from Nebraska. As a sophomore at Nebraska he averaged 9.4 points per game and 7.5 boards. Look for him to make an impact as a junior next season in the Big East.
DJ Williams (Simeon – George Washington)
Williams is another former Simeon prospect that sat out this past year transferring from Illinois to George Washington. The skilled wing never got traction with the Illini.
Aaron Jordan (Plainfield East – Illinois)
7.9 PPG, 3.1 RPG
It looked as if it was going to be a breakout season early for Jordan as he scored in double figures in nine of the Illini’s first twelve games including 20 points against Wake Forest. Production fell off as the season went on, but still shot 46% from three.
Glynn Watson (St. Joseph’s – Nebraska)
10.5 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 3.3 APG
This high IQ guard saw his scoring and field goal percentage drop as a junior while his assist numbers were up slightly. Solid Big 10 lead guard.
Evan Boudreaux (Lake Forest – Xavier)
Boudreax was a beast at Dartmouth his first two seasons averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds as both a freshman and sophomore. Boudreaux sat out this season at Dartmouth, graduated, and will transfer to to a school where he will have four years remaining.
Luwane Pipkins (Bogan – Umass)
21.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 4.0 APG
Huge season for Pipkins out on the east coast! As a redshirt sophomore he averaged over 20 points in a contest 16 times including games where he went for 44 points and 38 points! Could be one of the top scorers in the country next season.
Joseph Toye (Whitney Young – Vanderbilt)
5.7 PPG, 2.0 RPG
Toye has been a solid player in the SEC, but mostly a role player throughout his three seasons at Vandy.
Admiral Schofield (Zion Benton – Tennessee)
13.8 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 1.5 APG
Schofield is a big and physical wing that boards and scored for the SEC runners up. In their last six SEC games he averaged over 20 points a game. Look for him to be an All-SEC player next season.
Jordan Ash (St. Joseph’s – Northwestern)
2.1 PPG, 1.2 RPG
Ash hasn’t really worked out at Northwestern beyond being a bench/role player playing 12 minutes a game this year.
Kain Harris (St. Rita – Kent State)
Harris is another transfer on this list. After two years at Tulane including a sophomore season where he averaged 9.1 points a game he sat out this year as a transfer to Kent State.
Obediah Church (Springfield – Missouri State)
6.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.9 BPG
Church has been eerily consistent in his three seasons at Missouri State in all stat categories. Will he make a big jump next season?
Connor Cashaw (Stevenson – Rice)
15.5 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 3.2 APG
Cashaw saw a big jump in his production as a junior going from 8 points a game to 15 points. Consistent throughout the season for the former Stevenson star.
Christian Williams (Decatur St. Teresa – Indiana State)
Williams transferred from Iowa and sat out this season at Indiana State.
Weisner Perez (Morton – Harvard)
2.2 PPG, 1.9 RPG
This one is a bit of surprise considering the fit and how well he played at the Nike Global Challenge heading into college. The junior has never averaged more than two points or eight minutes a game.
Matt Rafferty (Hinsdale Central – Furman)
11.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.6 SPG
Rafferty saw a nice bump in his numbers as a junior. The skilled big man shot almost 60% from the field. Look for him to be a 15 and 10 guy as a senior.
Donovan Franklin (O’Fallon – Pittsburg State)
Franklin is the last of the top 20 transfers as he moved from Indiana State after his sophomore year where he averaged 4.2 points a game to Pittsburg State.
Prentiss Nixon (Bolingbrook – Colorado State)
16.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.5 SPG
Nixon has had an outstanding college career and continued his upward trend as a junior scoring over 25 points five times during the season including 27 points in two of his last three games.
