Teams participating in the event included Thornton, Freeport, Rockford Lutheran, Chicago Marshall, Peoria Richwoods, and host Boylan Catholic. Here are the scores for the first night's games by quarter. Rockford Lutheran: 9, 20, 43, 65; OT – 72 Freeport: 17, 31, 49, 65; OT – 80 Thornton: 15, 28, 46, 68 Peoria Richwoods: 24, 38, 60, 73 Boylan Catholic: 15, 32, 50, 70 Chicago Marshall: 22, 29, 47, 69 In this last analysis we'll breakdown a handful of impact players who showcased a diversified skillset from the guard locations. Composed player that maintains consistent discipline with or without the ball on both sides. Will square up immediately on the catch and go into jabs or pump fakes to get defender off balance before making his move. Got it going quickly from 3 ball land but also can go into a jumper from midrange off the bounce if there's over closeouts. Going against more athleticism will use high IQ to make the right decisions and gain spacing accordingly. Made big plays throughout the game for team to climb back into an OT opportunity.       Can fill a 2 or 3 spot at the next level with length and shooting abilities. Liked his mobility away from the action in the half court to garner attention and ease pressure off other skilled guard on team. Spaces accordingly in the break phase while running the court at a solid rate. Had him down for at least 3 3's all within rhythm and flow of O. Hit a big one to knot game up at 65 all with 10 seconds left to go into OT. Lengthy off guard that has accompanied speed and bounce with his game. Utilizes long frame to his advantage on both sides. Was successful on multiple tough takes through traffic off the bounce to finish at a high point. Possesses soft finishing ability around the rim. Can fill a 1, 2, or 3 role at the next level. The other quick back court guard for the Wildcats. Rebounded it from the offensive end at an effective rate to gain second chance opportunities. Had 2 put backs and then a corner 3 to keep team within reach. Likes to get out and run in the open floor with plenty of finishing capability. A lot to look forward to here with another underclassmen who will continue to develop and garner attention for a solid Wildcats squad. Does an effective job running the point position while remaining a scoring threat. One of the purest jump shots I saw tonight. Garnered a lot of physicality in the full court presser but continued to play sound and even keeled. Had a put back for an And1 and another breakaway transition And1 showcasing his ability to finish through contact. An aggressive playmaker that should see stock continue to rise over next 2 years.
