Recruiting: Available Posts (2018)
Here is a look at some of the top available post players in the Class of 2018
Leon Perry 6’7″ Confluence Academy: Versatile post followed up breakout junior season with another big year in which he is averaging 24 points and 10 rebounds a game. He is a tireless worker around the basket, but he has worked hard to improve his face-up game, which makes him tougher to defend. He even hit six 3-pointers in one game. Will probably be headed to the junior college route. Has several offers.
Yahuza Rasas 6’6″ St. Mary’s: Rasas has been a consistent scorer and rebounder for the Dragons ever since he entered the starting lineup as a freshman. He is stepping out and doing a few things on the perimeter as a senior, but he still does his best work in the paint as a scorer, rebounder and shot blocker.
Jamarr Williams 6’7″ Northwest Academy: You will be hard-pressed to find a more tenacious rebounder in the state of Missouri. The young man just attacks the boards with great zeal on both ends of the court. He is very strong around the basket. He is hoping to lead the Hornets to another Class 3 state championship.
Dawson Dohogne 6’4″ Cape Notre Dame: A stout post player who may be a little undersized, but he is very tough to stop around the basket with his fundamental post skills and shooting touch around the basket. He is strong and gets great position in the lane and can really score. He has put up some big scoring games this season.
Luke Loewenstein 6’5″ Duchesne: A beefy power forward who plays the old-school post game and does it well. He is strong and very good at holding his position in the lane. He is tough and he can score in the paint or step out and knock down high post jumpers.
Colin Braun 6’7″ Vianney: The long and lanky post has enjoyed an excellent senior season as the leader of the Golden Griffins. He moves well in the post and he is very active as a rebounder and shot blocker around the basket. He may be strong, but he doesn’t get pushed around and he can score.
Kyle Bushman 6’8″ Mt. Vernon: A late bloomer who was really emerged as a productive player as a senior. He is a very effective shot blocker throughout his career, but he has improved his offensive game, including his 3-point shooting. His best days are well ahead of him.
Cameron Hester 6’7″ Jackson: A physical post player who loves the rough and tumble action around the basket. He moves well in the lane and has the power to dunk of people in traffic. Has a nice lefty touch in the lane.
Tommie Robinson III 6’8″ Saxony Lutheran: A big physical post player who is in the 280-290 pound range. He moves well around the post and he can score inside and drop nice dimes from the high post. He has lost considerable weight in the past year, which has helped his mobility on the court.
Michael Akinwumi 6’7″ Parkway West: A much improved post player who leads the Longhorns in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. He has developed his body and he plays a very aggressive game, which makes him very effective. He has an offer from Culver-Stockton and interest from other NAIA programs.
