Expert Analysis
Donald Tatum | Prep Hoops Scout
Durant was one of the most impressive Bigs in the gym for the event. He has great size with visible muscle on his lengthy frame. He is a beast around the rim and understands that he is not the focal point of the offense. BUT. When the ball goes through him, he has a bag. Most impressive is his ability to step out and knock down mid-range shots. He embraces the physical part of the game and will not be intimidated. He is calm in the paint and finishes through contact easily. He is a big-time player and a next level prospect for sure.

Durant is kind of a tweener in size, but by position and play he is a post guy. His production as an underclassman on one of the top teams in the state is impressive. He is consistently productive, but his game is built on pace and poise, but there is a brutish aspect that gets him through against bigger players. Against Ferriday, the defense gave him space to shoot, and he proceeded to knock down mid range shot after mid range shot. Durant has the size to play in the post, but the skill to step out and shoot making him difficult to figure out and a stock riser in his class.

Durant is a stock riser in the class, not just because of his size, but because of his skill. He was one of biggest difference makers in the game because Ferriday dared him to take and make a shot. Well he took it and made it. He hit his mid range shots like they were free throws. Every opportunity he got to shoot it, he took it and he made it. He is a big body with a strong frame and a high motor. He is a serious talent and a stock riser. 17 points was his point output, but he was on the boards, blocking shots and just being active. If you don’t know the name, get familiar with the game.

Durant is a player that I watched in the summer, and his skills have continued to evolve. He is a big man, and as an underclassman, he looked comfortable in the big-time match-up. He is a true post player who controls the boards with his size. He is active on both sides of the ball and plays with a high motor. He is one to watch in the 2028 class and will surely continue to develop at Peabody.
