Freshman Showcase – Team 1 Player Evaluations

He's quick with the ball and can put his defender in some tough spots. O'Connor was able to keep the defense honest with his jumper as well. I've focused on his athleticism (which is impressive) before, but it might have been his disciplined play that stood out the most on Saturday. He looked so comfortable with his jumper, even on a pull up 3 from the top. Paul stayed focused and balanced throughout the shot. He showed up to play, catching fire from beyond the arc early in the event. He also showed the willingness to attack the rim without the ball, catch the pass in traffic and finish off 2 feet. Opoku-Agyeman was able to shoot off the catch as well as pull up off the bounce. He showed off his elite speed burst with the ball with a tough righty finish. It wasn't just offense though. He has a lot of talent and heart to work with as his game continues to develop. Worm is an excellent rebounder. He really plays bigger than his height in all aspects of the game. He's a very good ball handler that can attack a defender and make them make decisions. He has some real ball skills that will be a big time asset for him. Ceccarelli has a ton of control when he handles and can keep the ball tight to his hip. I liked the way he worked in transition. He was quick up and down the floor and found space on the wing. Once on the wing he didn't v-line for the rim, but instead stayed wide and kept space. He filled wings nicely in the open floor and was able to catch on the move and finish at the rim. Zichterman was also able to start the break with a kick out pass. I really liked the way he was willing to battle around the rim as well. He did a lot of things really well. Koning is listed as a post player, but really moves around the floor like a guard. He went through traffic and drew a foul and also hit a tough pull up jumper. Koning, in my opinion, has tons of upside.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
