Emerging Stars in 2028 High School Basketball Rankings

The 2028 Rankings dropped a couple weeks ago and some of the names are familiar to other players and coaches around the state for their high school performances. Some other players however may not be so well known due to their roles at bigger schools and their positioning on the depth chart. Here are some players that have played well during AAU and could step into larger roles for their programs in the upcoming season.    [player_tooltip player_id='2532085' first='Chase' last='Knight'] has made a name for himself as an up and coming scorer around the state and he appears to have added some inches over the summer. His three ball has improved and he is handling the ball with more confidence. The shifty guard and his developing IQ are going to be fun to watch as he is currently ranked #13 in the state among all players in the 2028 Class. He is going to be a key piece on this stacked Country Day Team as they look to repeat in the 2025/2026 Season.     [player_tooltip player_id='2532109' first='Teriyl' last='Matthews'] is currently ranked #20, but can easily be considered as one of the Top 3 shooters in the class today. He is a long distance shooter that works to get his team mates involved on the offensive side of the ball. He is a cerebral player and even though he is an elite shooter he has moves to get into the paint, and uses the floater as one of his weapons. He has been impressive all AAU season including a 7/10 three point shooting performance. Matthews is impressive and one of the brightest young players in the state.     [player_tooltip player_id='2532081' first='Caden' last='Levingston'] is a classic point guard and manages the game with his high basketball IQ. He plays with poise and is fun to watch in the open court. He has the skill to knock down mid range shots, and finishes at the rim with ease. He is more of a facilitator on the offensive side of the ball and works to create for his team mates which makes him special in todays game where players check stat sheets for points. Keep an eye on Levingston this season as he could earn meaningful minutes for St. Micheal and grow his name around the state with coaches and scouts.     Andrew DeBarbieris is a slasher scorer and plays the game with pace and skill. He has a strong fundamental foundation and is excellent off the ball using the basics of basketball to create scoring opportunities. He can shoot the ball from three in catch and shoot situations, but he can also get to his spots from the triple threat using jabs and fakes to set up the defense. In addition to this, he loves to get to the rim and uses his body to create contact and finish. Grounded in the basics and fundamentals of the game will make DeBarbieris an interesting propsect in the coming years.     [player_tooltip player_id='2623530' first='Nick' last='Shelton'] is a name to know around the state because of his constantly developing game. Playing for one of the top teams in the state can easily find underclassmen out of the Varsity rotation, but for two years Shelton has etched in minutes at Calvary. Shelton works hard on both ends of the court and gives the team whatever is required in game-time situations. He is a trusted rebounder, shot blocker and defender and is also developing a lethal three point shot. Shelton has all the tools to be a top player in the state, and with Calvary poised to make another deep run, look for Shelton to earn more meaningful minutes this upcoming season.
