The Oak Hills Summer Shootout brought out a lot of top local teams from the greater Cincinnati area which means a handful of northern Kentucky programs were in attendance as well. In this article I'll break down five Kentucky standouts I caught on Thursday at the event.

One of the biggest stock risers of the summer, McGillis has been on a tear and was unstoppable against two of the top teams in Ohio by scoring 70 points in two games against Lakota West and Reynoldsburg. McGillis is incredibly skilled and is an unbelievable below the rim finisher with acrobatic finishes with either hand and he puts incredible spin on the basketball. Able to work the pick and roll at a high level, McGillis can hurt you as a slasher, pull-up shooter or passer. If McGillis continues this level

A new addition to the Covington Catholic squad, Myrick is an elite wing shooter who caught fire as a spot-up shooter. When Myrick has his feet set, he usually connects from long distance and Covington Catholic does an excellent job of finding Myrick when he's open. Next time when I watch Myrick I'll be looking for him to make an impact as a defender or passer, two skills that could take his game to the next level.

I liked some of the things Courtney showed me as a utility piece for an experienced group. The lefty wing grabbed a handful of rebounds and played strong in the paint. Defensively Courtney blocked a shot as a help-side defender and also stole a post entry pass. Offensively, Courtney had a couple interior finishes and displayed soft touch on an 18-foot pull-up jumper. Really liked how Courtney played his role and impacted the game as a rising Sophomore against some talented competition.

Covington Catholic has some talented guards and while Myers will play a complimentary role this season, he showed some ability on the ball that makes him a potential primary creator down the road. Myers was confident attacking off the bounce and has a strong frame for his age. Defensively, Myers also guarded up positionally, defending numerous players that were significantly taller than him and giving them trouble. Lots of long-term potential on Myers as a player to watch in the 9th region in Kentucky.

Highlands returns a strong core from last season and Listerman is the leader of his team from the point guard position as the guy who sets the table for the rest of his team when he's on the court. The intangibles I saw from Listerman impressed me as he was active defensively, was unselfish, talked on the court and took care of the basketball. The best move Listerman made all day was a reverse pivot bucket where he was able to seal off his defender at the rim.
