Young was playing up an age group through the weekend on his Blue Print Hoops squad for 17U. It didn’t phase the young guard from Thornwood as he provided an exemplified pace throughout the game I watched on Friday. His consistent skill to get a step on his defender to get paint touches and then immediately pass it to an open man gives him a huge advantage. When a player shares the basketball like he can, it makes everyone around better and Young certainly does that on a consistent basis. He is super shifty off the bounce and then has excellent court vision to selflessly provide others options. Young also has the ability to score it from beyond the arc and at the cup which provides extra spark as well.

An impact guy in the 2028 class who played up on the 17u circuit and made tons of plays against a Meanstreets EYCL squad. The ability to be so explosive and change direction with the ball made it a real battle for the opponents. Not only can he also score with both hands inside, but he also flashed key assists throughout this game. A true all-around prospect with plenty of room to keep growing. Incredible potential.

Young put on a show against Fenwick on Sunday. The wiry point guard was so fast with the ball drawing up residency in the paint with how much time he spent there. Coast to coast takes, sweeping layups, and floaters for days. Crossed his man setting up his jumper. Snake dribbles for 15 foot shots. Knocked in a corner three. Slick passer especially in the pick/roll. Pesky defender.

Mekhi was playing up at the 17u level, and had a monster performance in a win for Blueprint Hoops. The lightning quick guard was getting to the rim just about anytime he wanted to, and was a walking bucket in transition. He just seemed to weave in and out of defenders effortlessly, and could glide to the rim to finish with either hand. A quick first step allowed him to blow by defenders in the half-court, and he flashed some drive-and-dish ability to set up his teammates. Impressive stuff from the 2028 guard.
