I’m doubling down on the fact that Big John is about to have a fantastic senior season for Hill-Murray. Loved what we saw from John playing with the Heat this year using his strength and activity to get double-double numbers.
There are a lot of frontcourt players that involve too much nonsense in their games these days but John is that worker that uses what he has and gets the most out of it. Loved watching him rim run to finish, rebound in traffic, and compete defensively this summer in 17u. He has a chance to be an All State 17u player in Class AAA.
John has been another prospect on this Minnesota Heat
Morgan squad that has had a great spring and summer. He has a big 6’5” frame and is able to make a major impact inside with his rebounding, interior defense, and finishing at the rim. Omoyeni also showed he could step out and hit shots from the perimeter off the catch.

of Minnesota Heat
. The 6’5/6’6 forward is a player we deeply admire because he gives his team results the best way he can, buy working in the paint and getting great results in the paint. Nothing worse than a selfish player not helping his team because he is doing things outside of his realm of consistency, Big John is the opposite. He runs the floor to two hand throw down, he goes back to the basket to use a great pivot to the rim or to his improving fall away touch. In John Omoyemi a coach can trust that his top guy is going to give him a trusted eight scores and eight boards.
Omoyeni was a major game-changer this weekend for Minnesota Heat
Morgan 17U and proved why he is such an impactful two-way presence on the floor. The 6’5” forward brought high energy, toughness, and athleticism while doing whatever his team needed to win. John played every minute of every game and consistently produced at a high level. He hauled in multiple double-digit rebounding performances and routinely took on the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best player. John’s ability to impact the game defensively, dominate the glass, and compete possession after possession stood out all weekend long. Add in his elite athleticism and motor, and it’s easy to see why he was one of the biggest difference-makers at the event.
John is a walking double-double for Minnesota Heat
-Morgan. The 6’5 forward has broad shoulders, a long wingspan, and a high motor that helps him dominate on the glass. John was cleaning up missed shots on the defensive end to shut possessions down, while fighting for a handful of second chance scoring opportunities on the offensive glass. John keeps the ball high after an offensive rebound, and has a quick second leap to go right back up for two points. He understands who he is as a player, and sticks to high percentage looks around the rim rather than trying to make plays out on the perimeter.
He is a versatile and playmaking forward. Omoyeni is a high-level shooter but can also be a force on the inside. He is a useful defender who can match up with all positions and get the job done.
