Oliver is still pretty raw, but is a prospect who seems to improve each time I see him play. Oliver went from playing JV as a junior at Edina, showing flashes with his Minnesota Select team over the 17u season, and then emerging into a 9.1 ppg scorer at Breck as a senior. That included a 20 point outing against Minnehaha Academy. Oliver can get up and down the floor well at 6’10, is quick off the floor for dunks, and is at his best operating with his back to the basket where his touch and footwork make him a threat to score in isolation. Oliver worked hard running the floor in what were often fast paced games last night.

Oliver’s showing against East Metro Bounce on Sunday was the best I’ve seen the 6’9 big play. It took him a bit to get into the game, but in the second half he began taking over for his team. He showed a quick spin into a right handed hook shot on multiple occasions, made a Dirk-style fadeaway jumper while being fouled, and slid into position to block a handful of shots throughout the game. Flick has some strength on his frame, and moves pretty well at 6’9, able to get up and down the floor with ease, and move his feet to make plays at the rim. He’s been showing flashes all spring/summer, and will look to turn those flashes into consistent production moving forward.

Oliver showed some flashes over the weekend running with Minnesota Select -Horn. He has some size on his frame, but still moves well at 6’9, getting up and down the floor to make plays in transition. I liked his hustle to sprint back on defense, and his presence sprinting back on D helped force a pair of transition misses early in the game. Had a handful of finishes inside while being defended by length in the game I watched.
