Josh is one of the potential breakout names to watch in the Upstate this year. He has really opened my eyes since early June, continuing to improve his jumper when he plays off the ball, as well as his processing and playmaking ability when he has more on-ball usage. Dixon excels in the high pace that the Runnin’ Rebels like to play, which can often be difficult for young guards to adjust to until they get older and more experienced. He will likely begin the season in the 6th-Man role for this squad, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to those close to the program if he starts or closes some games this year.

Leading off the list is Josh Dixon Josh Dixon 6'1" | CG Byrnes | 2028 State SC . Dixon is an emerging name in South Carolina this summer. The work with his jump shot is starting to show, both from three and in the mid-range. He also got to flash some of his playmaking ability with an increased volume of ball-handling responsibility, which is something that will really be on display in his senior season. Josh is excellent at speed and reads defenses well, so he’s a guard to remember out of Byrnes High School.

Checking in right behind him at #108 overall is Dixon. I am a fan of Josh’s game, and I think he could be a big help in the Runnin’ Rebels’ push for a State Championship this season. Their window is now, and guys like Dixon have waited their turn through successful years while putting in work in the background. Josh is an excellent perimeter shooter, and has shown improved confidence and feel as a playmaker this summer.

I expect Dixon to take a huge leap in his junior year. He started both games that the Runnin’ Rebels played on Tuesday, knocking down 6 threes between the two matchups. Josh is also a key guard defender for them, so when he’s hitting shots like he was on opening day, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the floor in big spots.
