Expert Analysis
Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
A big who can be utilized in the 4 and 5 spots at the next level. Stretches the floor out at times but mostly advantageous on the interior presence. Soft hands on the catch in dump off areas. Gained position on block with frame and footwork for baby hook over size. Made a quick cut in the lane for retrieval and score. Doesn’t force and let’s play develop.

Ottaway is a reliable post presence for the Warriors, doing a good job of establishing position on the block and converting with touch around the rim. When teammates attack the basket, he consistently places himself in the right spots for dump-offs, showing soft hands and awareness. In transition, he runs the floor well and looks to finish at the rim. Beyond scoring, rebounding is also a strong suit for Ottaway, as he uses his 6’5” frame to seal defenders and actively pursue the ball on both ends of the floor.

One of the most productive bigs I saw all weekend, Ottaway had multiple steals underneath his own basket after the defense thought they finished a defensive stop with a rebound. That heads up defense with quick hands, awareness and care to not foul got four free points for his team and that’s the difference in a game decided by just three points. Ottaway also passed the ball impressively for a post player of his size, scanning the court and making the right read. In crunch time Ottaway also had a key putback layup where he simply wanted it more than the opposition to lead his team to a win.
