Palmetto State : Region 2-A Predictions
Cabin Fever is settling in here in the Palmetto State with no games going on for 4-5 days with a winter storm pounding the east coast. Prep Hoops is going to take a look at Region 2-A with the likes of Great Falls and Lewisville. Lewisville lost last season in the Class A State Championship Game to Hemingway.
Great Falls Red Devils are currently 8-2 on the season under Head Coach Jimmy Duncan. Kelton Talford is off to a quick start for the Red Devils. Talford (2020) 6’4 combo forward is averaging 18.5 ppg and 12.1 rebounds this season. Donnell Adams (2020) is running the point guard position and averaging 13.3 ppg for the Red Devils.
Lewisville is just 6-6 on the season under Head Coach Mike McCray. The Lions have lost to several larger schools in enrollment this season most recently to Spring Valley HS 78-63. Demetric Hardin (2020) scored 22 points and grabbed rebounds in the loss to Spring Valley.
The Lions have a good supporting cast in Jadakiss Talford (2019) and fellow seniors Mikial Fourney and Devon Busby. Busby transferred in this past summer from Rock Hill. Fourney has received some college interest on the gridiron. Fourney a left-handed wing player played this past summer with Upward Stars-York County.
Timmonsville Whirlwinds are just that at times under Head Coach Gerald Wright. Dock Ellis (2018) pulled a no show at the Pepsi Carolina Classic and Rasheim Lyde (2019) is the leader of the Whirlwinds offense. Lyde a athletic wing player had some off the court issues to workout to get back with the football program earlier this fall.
Shane Hammonds (2018) and Tyrece Wright are a nice little tandem for the McBee HS Panthers. Hammonds a 3 sport athlete excels in the classroom and on the baseball diamond and football field also. The Panthers are currently 5-4 on the season.
The Lamar Silver Foxes are fresh off a Class A State Football Championship. Basketball is usually a after thought here at Lamar for the most part.
Region 2-A has just 5 schools in the region.
Predicted Order – Lewisville, Great Falls, Timmonsville, McBee and Lamar
