Palmetto State : Region 3-A Predictions
Region 3-A is one of the biggest regions in the Palmetto State with 8 teams.
The Williston-Elko Blue Devils are the best team right now here. The Blue Devils currently 7-2 on the season recently won the Hawk Invitational under first year Head Coach Mark Crossland. The Blue Devils have been led by Desmond Murray (2019) and KeShawn Toney (2019) the past few seasons.
Murray has really expanded his game and is playing more on the perimeter and bringing the ball up the floor for the Blue Devils. Murray scored 18 points in the Hawk Invitational Championship Game vs Ridge Spring Monetta. The Blue Devils won 63-54.
Toney a big-time football prospect is a physical specimen in the paint with his broad shoulders and soft touch around the cup. Demarkiis Doe (2018) is a great role guy on this team and does a bit of everything for the Blue Devils.
Tyson Bettis and Melvin Alewine are both seniors on the Ridge Spring-Monetta roster. Bettis a quarterback on the football team is the main cog here for the Trojans.
The Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans have suffered 6 straight losses in the last 2 tourneys they have played in. The Trojans wen 0-3 at both the Savannah River Shootout and the Sweet 16 in Orangeburg. The Trojans played all schools bigger than them in those games. Marlow Gilmore (2019) will look to lead the Trojans back to the playoffs this season.
Camry James (2018) and I’rek Hartwell (2020) have made solid contributions all season long.
Devante Scott (2018) should be joining the team really soon and has yet to play basketball this season. Scott played quarterback on football team.
Adonis Davis (2021) just a freshman for the Blackville-Hilda Hawks is the leader of first year Head Coach Ryan Moody’s team. Davis a left-handed guard brings a great attitude and toughness to the floor.
Harold Johnson (2020) and Malik Palmer (2020) will look to help the Denmark-Olar Vikings stay in the playoff race this season. Johnson 5’11 recently had some big games in the Hawk Invitational. Palmer 5’10 guard along with Johnson and Davis all played AAU together with Central Carolina Force.
AJ Swedenburg (2021) is a new face Prep Hoops saw over the holiday break from Wagener-Salley HS. Swedenburg a point guard plays with a lot of confidence and poise for a young age. Swedenburg showed to have a quick crossover dribble along with a nice mid-range game. Swedenburg had great court vision for a young age.
Quan Frazier (2018) and Swedenburg form a solid back court for Wagener-Salley.
