All-Metro Candidate: Immanuel Quickley
In this series, we will be breaking down 10 players in the Baltimore area who will be candidates to make the All-Metro team at the end of the season. As Adam Ayalew did for the DMV area, the players considered for this series will be broken down by three categories: production, performance and competition. There is no particular order to this list, but first up is John Carroll senior point guard Immanuel Quickley.
Production:
Quickley had to sit out the first the first seven games of the season due to mononucleosis. Even without the Kentucky commit’s services, the Patriots managed to go 6-1 during that stretch. When Quickley returned against Archbishop Spalding, they hung 103 points on their way to a 31-point victory. So far this season, Quickley is averaging 24.6 points per game. His ability to not only look for his own scoring opportunities, but also set up teammates for easy looks is unmatched.
Performance & Competition:
Head Coach John Zito loaded the schedule this season, to nobody’s surprise. They’ve already racked up solid wins against teams such as Mount Saint Joseph’s, St. Mary’s Ryken and Lake Clifton. They recently syffered a tough loss to St. John’s (DC) in Lewes, DE in the Slam Dunk to the Beach Showcase. The Patriots’ record currently stands at 9-3 overall. Other games remaining in the Patriot’s schedule include: a rematch against St. Frances (one of their two losses), Poly and Hudson Catholic. No game will be a guarantee from here on out, but with Quickley at the helm, expect the Patriots to have no issues rising to the top of the state rankings when it’s all said and done.
