Expert Analysis
Miles Masercola | Prep Hoops Scout
Winborne has reclassified to 2028 and started running with A Wigg Elite UAA 16u this spring/summer. The early returns appear to be strong as Winborne helped propel A Wigg off to a strong start after their appearance at the On The Radar North Carolina Opening this past weekend. Winborne shot the ball with a ton of confidence both off the catch and dribble while showing he can attack the basket as well. He can play either spot in the backcourt with the reclassification giving him more time to develop as a full time PG. Winborne did so many great things as he helped Greenfield to an NCISAA 2A State Championship this past season and should continue to show off his chops with A Wigg Elite on the Under Armor Circuit this spring/summer.

There are guys that you just trust to make the big shot and Greenfield has the luxury of two sharing a backcourt together. Securing the top seed in the 2A classification, Greenfield has had a ton of success this season and when Winborne provides production + timely shot making, it’s rare that they lose. As a Junior, Winborne is averaging 10.4 Points, 2.2 Rebounds, 1.3 Assists, and 1.0 Steals per game. He’s doing all of that on 47/43/50 splits. The free throw volume is so low that I think that average will come up because he shoots it so well from three at a really steady volume (4.9 Attempts Per Game). Winborne has the handle to be a secondary creator, attack closeouts, and finish in crafty fashion around the cup. He’s a naturally tough kid that is willing to take charges and compete for 50/50 balls. Winborne’s knack for timely shot making is the real reason he made this list today, Greenfield is going to need him to hit a big one at some point on this run, he’ll be ready to do it.

What makes this Greenfield team so special is that they have so many options alongside of Edwards who are capable of swinging a game with their production in their own way. In the semis, that guy was

. The junior was able to knock down 4-7 from beyond the arc in the win, making clutch and timely shots in massive moments with zero fear. Winborne is shot ready off the catch at all times, has great instincts at both ends of the floor, and has the handle to keep the defense honest when closing out. Some games he might be quiet, some nights he’s one of the loudest in the gym, and on this night his game screamed. Huge shots from Winborne kept Greenfield in the mix and gave Edwards the opportunity to hit the shot of his life and give Greenfield a berth in the championship game.

makes life easier on both of them, giving Kobe that reliable kick out option in the half court or transition. Winborne is an active defender that is willing to play with a physical element to his game, allowing him to bring value to the defensive and rebounding aspects of the game. Winborne continues to improve, see his role elevate, and in turn, should see an uptick in recruiting traction into the summer of 2026.

Winborne is an emerging shooting guard to know out of Greenfield School as he makes his debut at 58th in the latest rankings market corrections. He’s a confident ballhandler who’s shown he can knock down shots on the perimeter, operate off the bounce and make things happen for others. When he finds his rhythm, he’s tough to stop. He’s suiting up with No Guts No Glory NC on the MadeHoops Circuit this grassroots season.

Winborne is an underrated shooter in the Greenfield School backcourt who’s had a productive year in the 2027 class. He’s shown his confidence knocking down shots on the perimeter and staying involved as the Knights are 27-7 on the year and finished 11-0 in Coastal Plains Conference. He’ll be one to watch closely as they look to win an NCISAA State Title.
