Friday night PHI took in a game between Rock Island and Galesburg. On paper it didn't look like it was going to be close as Rock Island came in 19-2 while Galesburg was 8-15, but the Silver Streakers certainly hung around in this one through two and a half quarters making it a competitive game before Rock Island turned up the heat breaking it open to win 73-50. Here are our 5 Takeaways: Rock Island vs Galesburg!

First Look at Rock Island 2027 Guard

Class of 2027 6'1” combo [player_tooltip player_id='2712818' first='Deven' last='Marshall'] was the biggest reason we wanted to see this game on Friday. Early on he had it rolling as the Rock Island sophomore banged in a trio from distance both off the catch and pulling up in transition. Shifty ball handler that had a nice take late in the game from the mid-post area. Like how he pushed in the open floor and was a ball mover. Solid defender that puts pressure on the ball.

Great Guard Play Out of Rock Island

Two other guards got “adds” next to their name for Rocky in 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2815563' first='Ben' last='Goeh'] and 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2823489' first='Avian' last='Thomas']. Goeh is an athletic 6'2” guard that plays with a ton of burst pushing the pace in the open floor and putting a lot of pressure on the rim recording multiple and-1s. Acrobatic finisher at the rim including slamming in a one handed lob along with being a solid passer as he had 13 points. Thomas is a 5'11” junior that knocks down open shots from deep off the catch, plays with speed, and is a good passer finding the open man. Also liked what he brought defensively with his quick hands creating turnovers. Went for 14 points.

Clark-Pugh Brings Athleticism Up Front

Inside it was 6'4” Jae'vion Clark-Pugh who was the force. Athleticism really shined with his quickness on the offensive glass, finishing out of the dunker spot, and using his agility around the rim. Rebounded well on both ends. Not sure if he is an undersized post or a three man that is just playing there as the tallest man on this team. Small college should definitely be on this 2025 forward regardless.

Sleeper 6'5” Posts for Galesburg Make Names

Class of 2025 6'5” [player_tooltip player_id='2815762' first='Ethan' last='Oxley'] is a four man that has a nice right handed hook shot, runs the floor well, and can hit a spot up triple as he went for 13 points for Galesburg. Their other standout post was [player_tooltip player_id='2823655' first='Jaxon' last='Wyatt'] who is a 2026 6'5” big man that was efficient with his nimble footwork around the hoop scoring in transition and on layups for 12 points.

Bile is 2028 to Track

The highest ceiling prospect for Galesburg is their 2028 6'3” small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2751064' first='Cesaire' last='Bile']. Long and rangy frame with plus athleticism that screams upside. He has a quick second jump around the basket showing he was a solid rebounder. Looked comfortable banging in a corner three. Has a ways to go, but a name worth monitoring for sure!
