Game Recap: South Bend Washington vs South Bend St. Joe

One of the best games of Thursday night took place in South Bend, Indiana between two teams that are looking to make a strong push to win a Class 3A State Championship. South Bend Washington (9-1) went on the road to face South Bend St. Joesph (11-1) in a. heavyweight showdown featuring some of the top talent in the state. For South Bend Washington, the No. 1 ranked 2026 prospect in the Prep Hoops Rankings [player_tooltip player_id='1561449' first='Steven' last='Reynolds III'] was the featured player leading a talented group of guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1297026' first='Gabriel' last='Burgin'], [player_tooltip player_id='2140346' first='Dakori' last='Parker'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2622061' first='Kemon' last='Forbes']. Looks as though [player_tooltip player_id='2024513' first='Nick' last='Shrewsberry'] got the assignment of guardian [player_tooltip player_id='1561449' first='Steven' last='Reynolds III']. Reynolds hit a three in Shrewsberry's face. Burgin got a bucket next play. A few plays later Reynolds hit a 3 and extended the lead to 8-0 Washington.   Konieczny with a pull up jumper on the baseline gets SBSJ on the board.   There was a sequence where SBSJ missed 4 bunnies around the basket. Ended up hitting the ball out of bounds too.   Burgin got fouled. He went 1-2 at the line. 9-2 Washington   Konieczny was able to get the Huskies second bucket. A little run by the Huskies gets the lead to just 11-8.   [player_tooltip player_id='2140346' first='Dakori' last='Parker'] got a fast break bucket. 13-10 Washington.   Looks like we got a sideline warning on SBW.   Burgin fouled again. Goes 2-2 at the line this time. Really impressed by how he plays through contact.   End 1Q: South Bend Washington 15, SBSJ 12   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Quarter</h2>   Huskies open the 2Q on a 7-2 run and take the lead.   [player_tooltip player_id='1560973' first='Ethan' last='Roseman'] having a rough game so far for SBSJ. Missing a lot of shots.   That SBSJ run is now 13-2. Huskies lead 25-15 in the 2Q.   Roseman with a. tough bucket through contact and extends the lead to 30-17. What a run by SBSJ this quarter.   Three by AJ Boone and the lead is now 35-19. Total collapse by the Panthers this quarter.   Reynolds got fouled. Been really quiet this quarter. He goes 1-2 at the line. Pure soccer at nearly every spot on the floor and can get a shot off the defense in so many ways.   Lead is now 54-30 with 5:29 left in the 3Q.   Really shocked by this score after what we saw from SBW in the first quarter. The depth of the Huskies is on full display right now. 62-37 with 3:10 left in the 3Q.   Even with how this game is going, it can not be said enough just how special of shot maker Reynolds is. It has not been as consistent tonight as what they needed but you can easily see how special of a talent he is.
