Tuesday we released the updated 2026 rankings for New Mexico. In Part 1 of a series, here are 9 New Additions to the Rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693635' first='Juan' last='Limas'], Highland: With 3-point sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id='1687821' first='Jesus' last='Licon'] out until at least February with a knee injury suffered last spring, Limas has assumed the scoring load for the Hornets. He's averaging 17.3 points per game + 7.4 rebounds + 3.0 assists, all team highs. Highland could be dangerous when Licon returns. They beat Santa Fe, 59-54, Friday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2694512' first='Tony' last='Trujillo'], La Cueva: La Cueva is in rebuilding mode after losing most of their major players from last season. But the Bears have won two of their last three games. Trujillo is off to a solid start with 9.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and over 3 assists per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693613' first='Zavin' last='Guck'], Cobre: Per MaxPreps, the 6-foot-4 Guck is the state's top scorer heading into Christmas Week. He is averaging 23.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game to help lead Cobre to a 6-3 start, including Thursday night's win over regional rival Deming.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693644' first='Rylee' last='Pahl'], Cloudcroft: While Guck leads the state in scoring, Paul is No. 4 amongst juniors at 17.4 points per game + 7.6 rebounds per game. Watch out for Cloudcroft in Class 2A. They have three talented scorers led by Pahl who are averaging double figures.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693652' first='Kaileb' last='Atencio'], Penasco: Atencio had led 2A Penasco (3-2) to an encouraging start to the season, averaging 15.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He's doing it all for the Panthers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693654' first='Ivan' last='Moore'], Oak Grove Classical: OGC is a Class 2A school based in Albuquerque. Moore is second in scoring behind senior [player_tooltip player_id='2684233' first='Brody' last='Prochnow'] with 13.3 ppg. Together, the duo is combining for nearly 33 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2695189' first='Andy' last='Pino'], Alamo Navajo: Based in Magdalena, Alamo Navajo has two talented scorers in Pino (14.9 ppg) and Scotty Guerrero (14.7). Pino is shooting 70 percent from the field. In addition, the 6-foot-1 Pino is averaging 10 rebounds per game, so he's performing well on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2694511' first='Aydin' last='Kotara'], Logan: Kotara is the perfect No. 3 player for the Logan Longhorns behind top guns [player_tooltip player_id='1717329' first='Mason' last='Wallin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1717249' first='Hayden' last='Bruhn']. Kotara is averaging 9.8 points and 4.0 assists per game, so he's distributing the ball nicely and taking advantage of his scoring opportunities by shooting 56 percent from the field. Logan is a legitimate Class 1A title contender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2695242' first='Isaiah' last='Mestas'], Goddard: Mestas is the Rockets' point guard and so far he's scoring (7.8 ppg) and getting the ball to the right people (4.4 apg). Goddard hosted Dexter Friday night looking to even their record.
