The season is in full swing here in the Palmetto State. Prep Hoops takes a look at some news & notes around the state this week along with some game action last night.
Raymond WilliamsRaymond Williams has left Legacy Early College and transferred back to Berea HS according to Lions Assistant Coach Mike Alexander. Williams a scoring combo guard played AAU with Team South Carolina this past summer. Williams was in a long jam of guards at Legacy Early College.
Gaffney HS defeated Nation Ford HS last night 72-61. The Gaffney Indians improved to 4-2 on the season. The Indians were led in scoring by senior guard Bradley Childers with 26 points. Nick Agapion added 17 points, Ladarrius Foster 10 points and Charleston Southern signee Sadarius Bowser added 8 points.
Nation Ford HS (7-1) suffered there first loss were led in scoring by junior Zeb Graham with 26 points. Ben Tuipulotu 9 points, Shaman Alston added 8 points while Eric Moulds chipped in 5 points.
West Ashley Warriors defeated Stratford HS 79-65. The Warriors move to 6-1 on the season while the Knights fall to 2-2. Junior Kenyatta Jenkins led the way with 26 points, Randall Litmon (2018) 16 points, Marlon Hill (2019) 15 points, and Shelton Brown (2018) 11 points. Senior guard Skylar Williams added 8 points for the victors.
Stratford was led in scoring by Eric Burks (2018) with 24 points.
Laurence Manning Academy defeated The King’s Academy 76-67. Dawson Hatfield led the Swamp Cats with 19 points and Jerrel Kelly (2018) added 18 points. Kelly 6’9 left-handed forward scored 28 points vs The King’s Academy in the first match up.
Tyrek Epps scored 33 points in the losing effort for the Lions. Epps 5’10 point guard has been on a scoring rampage for them this season. Epps played last season at Lake City HS. Epps scored 39 points earlier this season vs Oakbrook Prep.
Greenwood beat South Aiken 67-60 last night. Greenwood guard JaVarion Calhoun led the way with 18 points while fellow back court mate Donovan Williams chipped in with 17 points. Joshua Drayton led South Aiken with 24 points.
