5 Takeaways : Sumter vs Dorman
Prep Hoops took in the action from the Bojangles Bash on Saturday. Game 3 featured two teams that could possibly meet up in March at the Colonial Life Center for a 5-A State Championship. The defending state champs Dorman Cavaliers vs Sumter Gamecocks. Both teams have plenty of star power on the roster. Dorman led at the halftime 31-27 after Myles Tate connected on a 3 pointer at the buzzer and was fouled in the process. Tate made the free throw for the 4 point play.
The Cavaliers led 60-50 after a Isaih Moore basket with 5:14 left in the game. The Gamecocks battled back to make it a 66-61 game with 48.8 seconds left. Dorman would prevail in Game 3 of the Bojangles Bash 70-61.

Tate was just himself today for the Cavaliers. Tate quickly scored 18 points by the halftime buzzer for the Cavaliers. Tate a smooth playing guard is extremely poised on the floor. Tate finished with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Tate is ranked the #1 player in the Palmetto State 2020 Class.
Best Offensive Performance : Isaih Moore (2018) Sumter HS
Moore 6’9 forward and a College of Charleston signee scored 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Gamecocks. Moore connected on 4 three pointers to keep the Gamecocks in the game. Moore is a great get for Head Coach Earl Grant and the College of Charleston.
Takeaway : Dorman Team
The Cavaliers set a Bojangles Bash Tourney Record with only having 5 turnovers in the whole game.
Promising Post Play : Gabe Bryant (2018) Dorman HS and Calvin Felder (2019) Sumter HS
Bryant a Gardner Webb signee was efficient in the paint for the Cavaliers. Bryant scored just 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Cavaliers. Felder who just turned 16 years old has a very bright future down the road. Felder a run-jump-athlete finished the game with 6 points. Felder didn’t get many touches today with the Cavaliers defense on him.
Who are these guys ? : Trey Downing, Ethan Parton and Harris Finley – Dorman HS
This trio of players really kept things going today for the Cavaliers. Parton and Finley both starters can play at the small college level. Downing scored 10 points and made a big three pointer late in the game. Parton and Finley generally team up with Tate in the back court for the Cavaliers.
Jordan McFadden was sitting on the end of the Cavaliers bench with a injured leg. McFadden looks to be headed to Clemson next season for football. McFadden was once a Virginia Tech commit. Sophomore P.J. Hall finished the game with 7 points for the Cavaliers.
Cameron Singleton, Tyree Smalls and Omar Crosskey all chipped in 7 points for the Sumter HS Gamecocks. Singleton played last season at Laurence Manning Academy.
